Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Notes / Commercial Description:
The Calling is an undeniable IPA we were driven to make. It's our tribute to like-minded dreamers, adventurous spirits, and glass half-full optimists. It's also our most heavily hopped beer ever, bursting forth with unmistakable tropical fruit and pine hop aromas and flavor supported with a slightly sweet malt character, tapering to a crisp, dry finish. Heed your call and enjoy.

Popping the cap on this one, I'm not getting any immediate hops from the bottle. Pouring it out, it is a bit disappointing on aroma for what I was expecting. Some classic citrus and pine, but nothing pops out. Taste is also just okay. Full flavored for sure with an 8.5% abv, but is not that interesting. Some orange with some astringency as well. It isn't refreshing or worth slow contemplation. Sort of an in-between beer that doesn't tick any of my boxes. However, it is still a decent overall beer...just not special.

Poured a hazy light gold with a thick white head. The aroma give off citrus rind with a hint of pineapple and just a touch of pine. Taste is surprisingly balanced and a welcome contrast to some of the hop forward beers in the category. Dry finish with a lasting but slight bitterness.

Poured into a snifter the beer is a hazy gold color. There is a small white head that leaves a good deal of lace.
Aroma of tropical fruit, pine, and a little bit of citrus. Sweet malt background.
Pineapple, a hint of orange, late pine resin. Caramel.
Medium-bodied, a joy to drink.

Disclaimer: Boulevard holds a sacred spot in my heart. My first craft beer that turned my world upside down was Boulevard Pale Ale back in 2002. Having said that, this IPA is outstanding.
Crystal clear straw color, 2 finger white foamy head.
The nose is a bit faint. A little lemony hop goodness and some banana peel.
Taste: Boom! This packs a hoppy punch. Sweet and herbal hop presence on the front, dry/resinous hop lingering on the back. Not so much tropical as it is piney. Oily mouthfeel lingers.

Clear gold with one finger of white head. Modest lacing.
Smell is floral hops with a bit of bread crust malt.
Taste is floral fruity hops some hop oil resins and a good dose of malt support.
Mouthfeel is light medium with good carbonation. The finish is dry and lightly bitter.
Overall a tasty DIPA. Best by 27 April 2018.

Pours a clear yellow with a thin white head that leaves good lacing, The aroma is pineapple and grapefruit. The flavor follows the nose and has a nice hop bite in the finish. The feel is smooth and yet well carbonated at the same time. Overall a very pleasant beer.

Very nice lighter double IPA. Good balance between hops and malty sweetness (but nowhere near the almost syrupy-ness of lots of DIPAs). Easy to drink and to enjoy.

Found in Mom’s fridge, a gift from my sister. Murky burnished gold, lacing retention; smells of mango, tastes of grapefruit as well. Hop bitterness offset by a slight malt sweetness. Medium carbonation. Quite good.
