Pours a lighter amber color small tan head falls quick no rings or lace.

Aroma is nice tart and fruity, venous notes, tart apples and cherries. Good barrel wood notes with lots of brett. Defiantly a tart sour ale from the nose.

Taste is like the nose good tart notes , nice brett with tart fruit sour apples and cherries on a descent malt base. Nice good tart sour without being overly so. Also hard to believe its 9.2% the funk seems to lighten it up.

Mouthfeel is lighter medium actually lighter then I expected. Carbonation is only medium but still feels lightly peppy.

Overall an enjoyable sour ale good brett notes. Enough funk and tart without being over done, other good brew from Boulevard.

as good as most any beer in this series, another great installment worth picking up. more of a red wine flavor to this than some of the others that seemed a little more dominated by bourbon. this seems like a mix of both, but the tannic fruitiness of the wine barrels really comes out, i have to assume they used them here. i also get another kind of fruitiness in nose and taste, and its cherry. maybe some time in a cherry wine barrel too? it has that tart and sweet tang, almost like cranberry in the middle, and its definitely highly acidic. seems to have less body than some of the others, so the brown sugar and molasses flavor on the back end comes out a little more and lingers longer. less grain flavor than i remember in the others too, more of a generic caramel thing, with some flanders red type notes in there with all the acidity and light vinegar hit. love the dried fruit thing, and that the sweetness and vanilla aspects of the bourbon seem scaled back without cutting into how oaky it is, and how mellow it ends up being. the booze might be a little exposed here, especially when it gets warm, and its definitely thin and under carbonated for what it is, but i like it a lot, and think its a little more distinct than some of its predecessors. fun stuff, pricey but worth it.

Pours a cloudy dark golden orange color. Very dark and turbid, almost brown, with deep tangerine edges. Pours nearly still with faint bubbles that immediately disappear. No lacing. Very disappointing.

Strong acetic presence in the nose with prominent vinegar dominating the other notes. As it warms, vinous wine barrels stand out with red wine tannins, dark berries, grape and sour cherry. Unfortunately, there's not much else going on. Boring and a bit too solvent-like for my preference.

Fuller body than expected with a slightly creamy texture and soft carbonation. Somewhat slick/oily but also a bit watery in the finish. Tart and Pickering but not overly acidic. Stronger lactic funk than expected at almost uber Berliner levels. Yogurt with cheesy funk countering the tart acidity and strong acetic vinegar. Sweet balsamic flavor but not as harsh or solvent-like as in the nose. Still, this beer is a bit too acetic for my liking but the funk and vinous barrel notes decently balance things out. Some charred oak with dry red wine and vinous fruit juice. Dark grapes, sour cherry and currant along with subtle strawberry and cream. An interesting beer but the lack of carb, strong lactic funk and acetic character hurt the drinkability and overall flavor.

Batch number L110415-2. Best by date: 11/2017.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. No lacing on the drink down. Tiny particles of sediment are seen floating around in the beer after the pour. Smell is sour with malt, unripe cherry, funk, acidic, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with sour unripe cherry, acidic, and funk flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with nice sour and funk characteristics, but it's a bit one dimensional to me.

Serving type: bottle.

750 ml bottle into a tulip glass.

Pours a nice looking rosy orange, mostly clear, with surprisingly little head or lacing. Smell is funk, cherries, yeast. Light lemon, oak and caramel. The taste is more yeasty, cherries, funk, some lemon, oak, light caramel, fairly tart, some light bitterness. Pretty smooth, appropriate level of carbonation, good body, the taste lingers.

Another well crafted Love Child, flavors are well blended. However, it's not as good as the last few years, and while it's certainly worth a purchase, the price point does factor in on this one.
