We start with a smooth, dark, rich and roasty porter then we add Columbian Cauca Cajibio Estate coffee supplied by our local friends at Maps Coffee Roasters to create an eye-opening marriage of our two favorite brewed beverages.

Look: It pours dark brown with a brown head. Head retention is excellent.

Smell: Strong roasted coffee aromas with roasted grains.

Taste: Coffee flavors with roasted flavors.

Feel: It has a smooth texture and goes down quite well.

Overall, rich coffee flavors but not much else.

The problem I have with this beer is that the coffee used leans towards the fruity/acidic side of the spectrum. I know that type of coffee has its fans, I'm just not one of them. Otherwise a pretty good beer.

A bottle poured into a pint glass. Look has 1/2" floofy head of light brown foam and a very intense dark red/garnet and brown body. Scent is a delightful malty coffee with hints of char. Taste has a bit of bite to it and a noticibly bitter malt comes across along with the coffee. Feel is somehow both dry and watery along with being on lighter side with a slight bitterness in the aftertaste. An enjoyable offering but a bit more heft would be appreciate.

L: Big, deep, light head.
S: Coffee. Specifically, sweet and acidic coffee. A hint of coco.
T: Coffee all the way. Light roast coffee beans, caramel malt, light acidity, becoming slightly more bitter coffee, with chocolate and tobacco hints.
F: Surprisingly dry. A little thin.
O: I like that the coffee has its own profile- it’s not just a generic bean taste. Interesting acidity in the body, definitely not a bad thing for me. My main complaint is it’s a little thin, but then again I’m used to drinking coffee stouts, not coffee porters.

Always on the lookout for Cigar City's Cuban brown coffee porter... Similar in most regards on-paper, but this "Puerto Rican" take is not quite as good - still, an effective coffee porter, with ample coffee impressions in the brown ale base - roasty, and coffee, light-drinking, medium-light-body... Certainly worth the try and buy...

Appearance: Brown, good head.

Smell: Nice coffee aroma.

Taste: Roasty, moderate coffee flavor. Easy drinking porter with a little more coffee flavor than most.

Overall: First beer from a Boulevard mix pack. Not too bad but nothing too special. Easy drinking porter, kind of an introduction to craft beers for those fearing strong flavors.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into my snifter. The beer pours a dark cola brown color with a dense creamy tan head of 3 cm foaming up with a gentle pour. The foam fades slowly leaving a sturdy edge layer and one large island on the surface of the glass. The aroma is fairly robust with ground coffee and a bit of sweetmilk chocolate mixed in. I also get some roasted malt note. No hint of hops or any booze here.
First sip reveals an average body with smooth texture and fine gentle carbonation.
The flavor is actually a little subdued compared to the aroma in my opinion. Similar characters but not as bold. I get roasted malt and some brown sugar with a lingering coffee note after each swallow.
This is a nice coffee forward brew that is smooth and easy to drink. An enjoyable brew on this cool fall evening.
