Looks dark, as a stout should.
Smells whiskey/bourbonesk.
Taste the booze up front, with other typical stouty attributes, you know the likely ones.
First sip warms the palate, clings to the throat, briefly.
Subsequent sips reveal a finely crafted barrel aged stout, Highly Recommended!

Bottled 05 Oct 2024 - I struggle sometimes with the notes, aromas and tastes descriptions. I will say with BA Stouts there is a fine line between tasty and corn tasty. For me, a beer has gone bad when it has that "corn taste". Some beers will dance close to that line and taste fantastic. This was one of them. Some sips I would notice the corniness, others I'd get the chocolate, etc... and the bourbon. I'll def. buy another one and put it away for next winter

Appearance: Pours a completely dark color with a massive dark and rich tan head that lingers. SRM of 24. (4.25)
Aroma: Strong aromas of chocolate and bourbon upfront. Some sweet dark fruit, molasses, cherry and vanilla notes underneath. (4.25)
Flavor: Strong flavors of rich chocolate, dark malt, molasses, and bourbon upfront. Maple and caramel sweetness emerge balanced by only a touch of roast. Then more maple and carmael sweetness with some yeast and spices through the end. (4.00)
Feel: Heavier-bodied, appropriate carobnation. Sweet, boozy finish. Malts hide the booze decently with a touch of yeasty spice. (3.75)
Overall: First try at this. Pours beautifully. Strong aromas. Rich chocolate, caramel, maple notes. Hides the alcohol and the sweetness minimally. Some yeast and spices linger off the end. A little sweet. Booze shows a bit with a bite. The flavors are good though. Glad to try it, but not memorable. (Rating: 4.00)

Black appearance with a two finger light brown foamy head, ok retention, minor lacing. Nice bold whiskey notes complemented by stone fruit, tobacco, vanilla. Moderate to slightly full body, mild carbonation. Very nice generally available barrel stout.

Poured into a tulip.
Pours nearly black, with a mottled tan head that is here and gone. Very little lacing, but it's there and persists.
Check-the-box "smells" including bourbon/vanilla, dark fruit, hints of coffee, and char. Fainter herbal/anise and tobacco notes.
Similar flavors are there. Unexpectedly sweet, even for the style, on the tip of the tongue. Coffee, toffee, chocolate, vanilla, cream, and some distinctly raisin/date dark fruit action in midstream. The dark fruits, in particular, are better defined than is often the case. The finish has a little tobacco and anise with some very present but not overwhelming booze.
It's definitely full-bodied, but in true fashion for Boulevard, it manages to have some lingering carbonation to carry it through, and the booze is drying instead of sticky.
BAs are usually "big hit" or "meh" for me. This one is a "checks the boxes and then some" hit that didn't "wow" me, but was very tasty nonetheless. It's skewed sweet, for me, but is still a very approachable BA in that the bourbon and barrels are present but aren't in your face. It lacks some complexity and balance compared to superstars, but the dark fruits, in particular, are worth coming back for more.

Pours deep, dark chocolate brown, with a tan colored head and low to moderate carbonation. Aroma is dark plum, whiskey and chocolate. Some coffee notes are present. Taste is dried plums, chocolate and dark roasted coffee. This brew makes no apologies and doesn't expect respect. It is what it is and is a worthy addition to the cellar.
