Our Original Beer 1st Keg - Nov. 17, 1989

Boulevard Pale Ale is a smooth, fruity, well-balanced beer with year-round appeal. A variety of caramel malts impart a rich flavor and amber color, while liberal use of whole hops adds zest and aroma. Pale Ale is the first beer we brewed, and continues to be a perennial favorite.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass

Pours a Pretty neutral copper with a small head and a carbonation level that stays throughout the brew.

Subtle nose but with the sytle in mind very good does not have that in your face scent of an IPA but notes of hops, malt and a certian degree sweetness, the taste is nearly perfect for a session APA the hops alcohol and malt combine to make a very easy to drink crisp beer, light body with an outstanding carbonation level, very drinkable for those long hot summer evenning this is one of my staple and will remain that way awsome brew

Had this beer for free at my conference. Decent pale ale. Nicely bitter. It looks pretty good too. Golden light brown with good head and lacing. Toasted biscuit smell and taste. Rich feel for a pale ale. Bit of a sweet caramel background.

Ok. I'm rating this beer as it should be > This is a Pale Ale !!!! It's not an IPA >

This beer is fantastic. The aroma of rich malts and Zesty whole cone Cascade hops give this brew a delightfully and savory aroma. The first few smells is one of balance > Malt's and hops working harmoniously together in the best way possible.

As you sip and swig this beer, the first impression is that of balance > And if you get it really really fresh it's even more apparent. Ahhh > semi sweet and toasty caramel malts playing a tug of war with the fresh hoppiness. And the finish is dry, lengthy and hearty. This is not a boring beer by any means. I'm guessing their house yeast plays a big part in the dryness and fruitiness as well as the hops.

I have been a HUGE fan of this beer for at least 23 years or so > Yes I think the recipe is a bit more boring since AB bought it > The original had a blend of 7 different hops > Very complex. Now it is just Cascade. But it still tastes fantastic. This is a quintessential Pale ale and a classic in it's own right.

Had on tap at the brewery

Or arrival a fine white 1 f9nger head was present that leaves some lacing. Body is a light golden amber with lively fine carbonation.

Aroma is hoppy a bit caramelized and crisp at the same time. A traditional bitter resin WC hop aroma comes through with a touch of relatively clean fermentation and malt.

Taste follows the aroma but is very balanced with a nice malty sweet finish that balances the hops very well. An earthy, piney hop note blends well with the light nutty toffee malt.

Feel is full bodied up front with a dry, but long finish. Carbonation feels very fine, but there is a bite. Nice on an autumn day on their beer hall patio.

Overall this is a good example of a nice and balanced hoppy and malty pale ale with the right amount of approachable flavor. Nice.

Bright amber appearance with a small white head and little lacing. Aroma of citrus, soft fruit and caramel. Flavor profile follows the same pattern although the citrus is not as distinct. Easy drinking, light-to-medium bodied moderately carbonated mouthfeel. A bit thin on the palate. Short lived finish.
