Very Good
Jam BandJam Band
Notes: Jam Band burst onto the scene this year as an improvised fusion of dark berry flavors and zippy citrus chords. The rhythmic grooves of blueberry, raspberry and tart cherry accompany a simple malt base to create an easy-drinking, all-season beer worthy of an encore.

12oz can with dates, came in the variety pack

Looks purple, just like the can. Smells like sweet hard candy, or raspberry jam. Taste is very similar, with a breadth of fruit flavors resting on top of a malty pillow

A very tasty fruit beer, balanced, not too sweet, and with a variety of flavor

Presentation: 12 oz. can with the canning date etched on the bottom. Served in a Rastal Harmony tumbler.

Appearance: The dense, pink colored, one and a half finger head stays around for a long time and leaves behind a lot of lacing that covers the entire glass. It's a hazy, pure red color when held up to light.
3.50 Smell: It's a sweet, slightly musty smell of ripe raspberries and canned cherries.

Taste: It's juicy and fruity with notes of raspberry, cherry and a hint of blueberries in the background. It's mostly sweet but there's some sour tartness that comes through as well.

Mouthfeel: It's quite light and moderately smooth with a touch of creaminess. Carbonation is low.

Overall: It's a simple, easy to drink, fruity beer that doesn't blast the palate with sourness or sweetness. It does a good job of offering pleasant fruit flavors without overwhelming the senses.

Eugh, people actually like this? The flavors listed on the can sound very appealing, as someone who likes fruits, however, the taste of this mixture reminds me of a low quality Applebees special mix drink made with low quality liquor.

I can see why a single 12oz can was only one American dollar.

A: crystal clear; crimson in color; 1 finger finely pored very pale pink head that receded quickly to a thick collar; no lacing;

S: artificial raspberry and strawberry;

T: up front, it's a balance between artificial and real raspberry; by the finish, it's sweet fresh raspberry with a bit of tartness and a touch of pithy bitterness as well;

M: light to medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: not something I would choose again, but I do appreciate the simultaneous sweetness, tartness, and bitterness on the finish;

Poured from a can into a tulip.

Pours a crystal-clear berry-red, with a fizzy quickly departing head but a nice ring of lacing.

The nose is berries, berries, and more berries (and cherries for good measure). Blackberry, raspberry, blackberry, cherry, lemon, blueberry. Hints of melon and simple syrup.

The flavor follows the nose all the way, although, perhaps a bit sweeter. Cherry coffee-cake sweetness on the tip of the tongue, along with some aggressive acidity. The mid-palate enjoys a mixture of sugar-bomb sweetness and red-wine tartness, awash with the berry mixture that graced the nose. Citrus and white pepper hit at the finish with a solid tingle.

The brew is just a touch syrupy and sticky, although the ample carbonation and late-arriving acidity save the brew in that respect.

Overall, a brew that definitely lives up to its name in every way, although for a beer, that may not be the most optimum. A shade sticky and sweet, it nevertheless delivers on the flavor in spades.

I had to login and warn people away from this trash beer. Boulevard brewing hit an all new low and it’s simply generous to refer to this as a beer. It tastes like a jolly rancher. This is not beer, nor should it be disguised as a beer. I question anyone that actually rated this as good. They do not what beer is.

Red red red. Strawberry jam, also other berries as well as berries and raspberry. The flavor is berries, also other berries as well as raspberries. Very sweet. Not bad.

Tastes very similar to a apple cider (honestly tastes just like an angry orchard crisp apple). Was disappointed that I couldn't taste the blueberries, cherries, or raspberries. Was also expecting more of a beer flavor but that might have just been my incorrect assumption. Overall a tastes fine but not exactly what I wanted or expected.

I love Ales, and I love berries so this beer is a given. If you love fruity beers and love ale, you’ll love this. Pink color, smells of ripe, tart berries. The taste is not as sour as the smell and is exceptionally sweet. Tastes like a berry cider but goes down like a light ale although the abv is 5.9%. Really good, refreshing beer with a good alcohol content. Perfect for any occasion during summer.

Nabbed a sixer @ Total Wine & More for $6.99 on-sale.

It's a competent fruited ale with admittedly not a whole lot going on elsewise. Tart, berrylicious, a little acidic. Not sour or twangy or anything; lacks the pie filling berry notes you'd find in a fine Flemish oud bruin or red.

Competent work from Boulevard, though it does lag behind their core lineup.

1/2" pink tinged head on a deep red beer with good clarity. Head sticks at a cap and leaves some wispy lace behind.
Smells like berries. Sweet berries.
Nice sweet / tart berry flavor. Simple and good.
Light body. Good acid and tart finish keeps it dry. Good clean finish.
Surprised by this one, very easy to drink and enjoyable.

12 oz. can:

Pours dark pink. A thin head leaves some lacing.

Smells like jam - blueberry, raspberry, cherry. Not sure I can pick out each, but they do blend nicely.

The taste is of jam - berries and cherries. Sweet, but not overly. Grassy/grainy background lets you know it's a beer.

Smooth and bright. Light, but not thin.

A good fruit beer. Nice combo of fruits with a solid beer character. Very drinkable!

Somehow my review magically disappeared. I just made less than an hour ago.

But ok.

To sum it up, basically it's very dry with very little sweetness. Very drinkable and sessionable. Very much like an american adjunct lager with a hint of berry. No artificial tinge to it.

What a great surprise. I’m not into sours but this is truly unique. It has a full berry flavor with a slight cherry aftertaste pours a nice clear reddish color and looks great in a glass with light carbonation sliding up the glass. This thing is a hit.

From a can at the 2018 Decatur Beer Fest.
Pours with a clear reddish-brown body topped with very good white head. Excellent clarity.
Mild, lightly tart aroma.
The flavor is mildly bitter and fruity with just a hint of biscuits.
Medium body with medium carbonation.

Very nice fruit beer - not an artificial fruit taste, tastes genuinely of the berries that it says it includes. Smooth, easy, looks beautiful, tastes great, creamy thick feel - great beer and handles the fruit well, which is rare. Doesn't have the little extras that would make it mind-blowing, but very very good and does really well what it describes itself as - Boulevard being as good as ever, even handling a fruit beer really well.

A - Largely opaque, reddish purple body, small white head, fading to a minimal line, trace lacing.

S - Berry, raspberry first and foremost, with just a hint of tart cherry and sweetness and acidity.

T - Juicy. Bright fruit, rich cherry and berries. Delicious combination that delivers on the name.

M - Brisk carbonation, light feel, tart finish.

O - Solid fruit beer with great nose and flavor.

Boulevard Brewing Co. " Jam Band"
12 fl. oz. can, coded "LO41618 13:45 13SEP2018 F" and sampled on 28JUL2018
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: "JAM BAND"... should I put on some Greatful Dead? The label reads "BERRY ALE WITH BLUEBERRY RED RASPBERRY AND CHERRY" - sounds great! It's poured a hazy ruby colored body beneath a creamy head of pink foam. The aroma is not as strong as I expected it to be but it's definitely like sweet fruity jam. On to the flavor... absolutely, it's like jam. I was wondering how the fruits would work out together. I can find the cherry fairly easily but the blueberry and raspberry are a little harder to pinpoint. Still, they're both there. It's really fantastic. It's sweetish but not too sweet, and I'll say it would certainly make a great dessert beer I think you could just as easily enjoy it by itself. How many in a row is up to you, but I think one might be my limit. If it were a little tarter maybe more, but it's not tart at all. I'm actually a little surprised, the label doesn't say anything about flavorings so it must be all fruit, so how did they do this? Ahhh, who cares, it's good. Medium bodied and smooth, it's quite easy to drink. And looking back it's left great lacing behind. I should have known that Boulevard would have been able to pull off one of the best fruit beers that I've had in a long while. Certainly worth trying for fans of the fruit.

Pours a purplish red, creamy head with good retention. Aroma is definitely berry-forward but not over-the-top, a tad sweet, like jam or compote. Aroma taste to me is mostly raspberry & grape, maybe a little blackberry, the malt base is a little dry / stale tasting but that is the only real miss. If you like fruit beers this is a pretty good one

I had a good feeling for this beer. Has a lot of flavor love the berry combination with the raspberries and cherries. Smooth malty body with consistent levels of both sweet and tart.

Would totally get this again and drink a six pack of it. Local place has it in stock. Give it a try!

Nice summer time brew. Full of berriliciousness and brilliant tart tones. Nice half inch head and lacy staying power. Layers of berries and maltiness. Not a drink for everyday, but the occasional glass is wonderful.

Fruity and tasty just as expected. Clever name for this beer. Drink this with your favorite tie dye t shirt on with some Grateful Dead playing in the background. This is not something that I would want to drink often, but once in a while it sure does hit the spot. Cheers! B

The slightly hazed deep ruby reddish-pink colored beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 3/4” pink head that recedes slowly, leaving lots of lacing on the sides of the glass. Sipping creates arches and lots of small patches and legs of lacing. By mid-way through the beer there’s still lots of lacing on the sides of the glass and a thin, irregular island of foam on the surface of the liquid.

The aromas definitely are filled with multiple berries. There’s also a bit of bready malt along with a light touch of citric hops.

The flavors are pretty much as expected from the nose with lots of berries in the mix. The berries here include raspberries, cherries and blueberries. The berries are backed up by some bready sweetness from the malt. There’s also a bit of cherry tartness along with a light touch of citric, earthy bitterness from the hops.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly crisp and creamy from the finely bubbled and moderate carbonation. The finish begins as the sweetness begins to fade a bit to be followed by the berries. As the berry sweetness recedes the cherry tartness moves forward a bit and migrates towards the back of the palate where it pairs with the citric hops to finish up the long semi-dry ending.

Overall an enjoyable fruit beer that for me would work best in the summer. It’s refreshing and has lots of berry flavors. In some ways this beer reminds me a lot of one of my summer berry breakfasts which include a mix of raspberries, blueberries, and sometimes a few tart cherries. I’ll probably be having more of each this summer and think the beer would be a nice one to have on offer for after dinner during a summer party that includes folks who don’t think they like beer. That all said, it’s not a beer I’d drink more than one of at a time just as I’m not going to have two bowls of berries for breakfast.

Pours a cloudy maize color. 1/2 inch head of an off-pink color. Great retention and decent lacing. Smells of raspberry, cherry, sweet malt, slight pale malt, slight dough, and a hint of citrus hops. Fits the style of a Fruit/Vegetable Beer. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of raspberry, cherry, sweet malt, slight pale malt, slight dough, hint of alcohol, and a hint of citrus hops. Overall, good appearance, aroma, body, and blend.
