The slightly hazed deep ruby reddish-pink colored beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 3/4” pink head that recedes slowly, leaving lots of lacing on the sides of the glass. Sipping creates arches and lots of small patches and legs of lacing. By mid-way through the beer there’s still lots of lacing on the sides of the glass and a thin, irregular island of foam on the surface of the liquid.

The aromas definitely are filled with multiple berries. There’s also a bit of bready malt along with a light touch of citric hops.

The flavors are pretty much as expected from the nose with lots of berries in the mix. The berries here include raspberries, cherries and blueberries. The berries are backed up by some bready sweetness from the malt. There’s also a bit of cherry tartness along with a light touch of citric, earthy bitterness from the hops.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly crisp and creamy from the finely bubbled and moderate carbonation. The finish begins as the sweetness begins to fade a bit to be followed by the berries. As the berry sweetness recedes the cherry tartness moves forward a bit and migrates towards the back of the palate where it pairs with the citric hops to finish up the long semi-dry ending.

Overall an enjoyable fruit beer that for me would work best in the summer. It’s refreshing and has lots of berry flavors. In some ways this beer reminds me a lot of one of my summer berry breakfasts which include a mix of raspberries, blueberries, and sometimes a few tart cherries. I’ll probably be having more of each this summer and think the beer would be a nice one to have on offer for after dinner during a summer party that includes folks who don’t think they like beer. That all said, it’s not a beer I’d drink more than one of at a time just as I’m not going to have two bowls of berries for breakfast.

Fruity and tasty just as expected. Clever name for this beer. Drink this with your favorite tie dye t shirt on with some Grateful Dead knocking in the background. This is not something that I would want to drink often, but once in a while it sure does hit the spot. Cheers! B (85-89) score range

Poured into a pint glass. Pours a hazy, purple color with a thin, white head that doesn't leave lacing. Nose of raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry. Taste is raspberry, blueberry, and cherry with a clean citrus finish. Medium carbonation and medium-light body.
It's alcohol infused juice. It's watered down but super drinkable and allows the berries to really shine. The raspberry is the dominant berry but the blueberry, blackberry, and sweet cherry do come through. Definitely not a winter beer but a good spring or summer beer.

Boulevard Brewing Co. " Jam Band"
12 fl. oz. can, coded "LO41618 13:45 13SEP2018 F" and sampled on 28JUL2018
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: "JAM BAND"... should I put on some Greatful Dead? The label reads "BERRY ALE WITH BLUEBERRY RED RASPBERRY AND CHERRY" - sounds great! It's poured a hazy ruby colored body beneath a creamy head of pink foam. The aroma is not as strong as I expected it to be but it's definitely like sweet fruity jam. On to the flavor... absolutely, it's like jam. I was wondering how the fruits would work out together. I can find the cherry fairly easily but the blueberry and raspberry are a little harder to pinpoint. Still, they're both there. It's really fantastic. It's sweetish but not too sweet, and I'll say it would certainly make a great dessert beer I think you could just as easily enjoy it by itself. How many in a row is up to you, but I think one might be my limit. If it were a little tarter maybe more, but it's not tart at all. I'm actually a little surprised, the label doesn't say anything about flavorings so it must be all fruit, so how did they do this? Ahhh, who cares, it's good. Medium bodied and smooth, it's quite easy to drink. And looking back it's left great lacing behind. I should have known that Boulevard would have been able to pull off one of the best fruit beers that I've had in a long while. Certainly worth trying for fans of the fruit.

Pours an effervescent purple with a pinky of pinkish head. Decent head retention & lacing

S: A little cherry, not much else

T: Tart raspberry, dryness, a little blueberry up front. More of the same as this warms, sweetness picks up a bit. Finishes with a little berry sweetess & dryness

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation

Drinks alright, but just not one I would buy again

I had a good feeling for this beer. Has a lot of flavor love the berry combination with the raspberries and cherries. Smooth malty body with consistent levels of both sweet and tart.

Would totally get this again and drink a six pack of it. Local place has it in stock. Give it a try!

Cloudy purple colored beer with a tall purple pink colored head. I must emphasis this is purple.

Smells of berry and wheat crackers. Slight sour scent and lesser scent of medicine.

Starts out mildly sour and tasting of sour blackberry. Taste of mineral water and seltzer. Mostly this is a mild fruit beer.

Mouthfeel is light.

Overall this is just a mild easy drinking beer. Don't buy expecting a gourmet experience. Just easy drinking fruit beer, really suited to a hot day.

Pours a murky ruby-maroon with a finger of pink foam. Head retention is good with a few strands of lacing. Aroma is blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Nice hearty, almost lambic-like aroma. Flavor profile is dense notes of blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Berries are well done, with no notable sour or tart side effects. There is a little hit of earthy, biscuit malts at the finish which keeps the berry notes from lingering on the tongue. Mouthfeel is medium-thin, with a watery feel that makes the whole thing for a little thin and lacking. Overall, it begins to approach the lambic style taste, but is broken up by a touch of malt at the finish.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can. Reviewed from notes.
