T - hit the style well...some coffee tones with a burnt malt finish. The flavors were subtle but noticeable
M - thin and highly carbonated

Pours a dark black color. 1/3 inch head of a tan color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of sweet malt, chocolate, slight hops, and slight biscuit. Fits the style of an Irish Dry Stout. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malts, slight hops, and slight biscuit flavors.

"Best by 12/29/07"

a: Black with a thick tan head, poor retention and little lace.

s: Sweet roasted malt with notes of chocolate.

t: Sweet, smokey, some chocolate, a tad bitter in the finish.

m: Body is appropriate for the style, but carbonation is probably a bit higher than it should be.

d:Not sure if this was my first stout or if Guinness Draught deserves the distinction, but either way this works well as an introduction to the darker side of beers. The flavor and aroma are mild and inviting.
Body is on the lighter side making for a highly drinkable irish stout.

Its solid, but unremarkable, pretty average I suppose (though when I was a college Freshman I would have had words with anyone who denied its spectacularity).

This beer isn't the best of its style, but its local and the price is right, so drink up!

Served on the nitro tap at the Boulevard Brewery. A nice deep black color, with creamy, white head. Smells of toasted malt and slight smell of hops. A bit sweet tasting, but a good balance of hops and malt. Has a nice roasted malt character.

I think I like the bottle conditioned version better, the nitro version is a bit watery.

I got this brew in a trade with brewCzar, Thanks Bryan!

12oz bottle served in a standard pint glass.

L - black, with a creamy tan head that settled to a layer leaving a good amount of lacing behind.

S - light, roasted malt aroma.

T - roasty taste, some chocolate and coffee flavors.

F - medium bodied with good carbonation.

D - Happy St. Patty's Day!*

*Note: The drinkability goes up .5 if you have this brew on March 17th.

Poured from 12oz brown bottle into a clear glass tumbler. No freshness date.

A: Opaque dark brown with an ample cap of tan head with a few thin lines of lace.

S: Metallic, earthy aromas with toasted malt that is slightly nutty.

T: The flavor is largely nutty in the start with mostly roasted malt and coffee flavors in the finish. Hops are very light but the finish is very dry and quite metallic.

M: Not robust enough in body for the style with an unpleasant thinness. Carbonation is slight.

D: Nothing very special in the dry stout department -- go for the Boulevard Bully Porter or (even better) the Bob's Munich Lager from their line-up.

Poured from the bottle a very dark brown with ruby highlights. The tan head was small-bubbled and creamy but thin. Light lacing left on the glass.

Aroma of roasted malts, brown sugar, and molasses.

The taste is not as sweet as the aroma would have you believe. Bitter roasted malts, coffee, and a dab of cocoa.

Light bodied with a thin mouthfeel, and lightly carbonated.

This is an easy-drinking dry stout from Boulevard. And very easy to drink.

Received in trade from Monkeyknife, thanks for the opportunity.

Pours a dark brown/black with ruby highlights when held to light. Has a skimpy off white head that sticks for a bit. Aroma is faint cocoa and dried fruit. I'm missing the roasted grains that are typical in a dry stout. Taste has some chocolates, a bit of roast bitterness and some more dried fruit. Carbonation is ample, mouthfeel is creamy, body could be a little thicker for me. Overall a decent brew, I could see myself sessioning this if it were more available to me. Could use more roast flavor and aroma.

Pours into a pint glass with bone white head covering a very dark brown ale. The small amount of light passing though the edges shows hints of red and good clarity. The head settles leaving nice lace behind.

Aroma is roasty and rich in dark malts.

Taste is full of dark roasted malts lending coffee and smoke flavors. It has a nice bitterness and dry finish.

Mouthfeel is low on body but higher than I'd like in carbonation. Dry on the palate. Drinkability is good except but the smoky dryness gets in the way for me.

a: real deep brown color almost black with three quarter inch head that dissapeared fast leaving a good amount of lacing
s: deffinate strongly roasted grains, sweeter than i expected, the aroma reminds me of one of those fancy coffees
t: chocolaty coffee, very nice, not bitter strong roasted malt taste
m: light to medium bodied with a lot of carbonation

overall i really enjoyed this brew, but i found it a little too sweet

Poured a dark black with just hints of ruby when held to the light. 2 finger tan head that didnt last long. decent lacing. The smell is of malts, coffee, chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate, roasted coffee, bitter finish. Mouthfeel was medium body, lots of carbonation, one was plenty. This is not my favorite style, but much better then other beers of the same style.

Well here is my first sampling of a dry stout, except Guinness.

Poured into a pint glass.

Very thin lay of tan head that leaves little lacing, but sticks around for the entire time I drank the beer.

Smell is mainly malty. Dark coffee with roasted malt aroma. Taste is extremely malty. There is a dark coffee and roasted almond taste. There is a slight hop taste .

Mouthfeel is a very bitter, which surprised me a lot. The hops have become so much more present now. This beer ends with a clean aftertaste. It also has a decent level of carbonation.

Overall, this is a very easy to drink stout. This stout isn't too think, but it is full in flavor.

12 oz bottle - pint glass

A: Black body. 1/2" tan head that didn't hold.

S: A somewhat light aroma of roasted malt & coffee. OK, but nothing special.

T: Roasted (maybe burnt) malts & coffee are there with a decent hop presence that brings balance. Again, ok, but nothing special.

M: Lightly carbonated, but a much lighter body than it should be. It's definitely not the smooth, creamy mouthfeel you expect in a stout. As you'd expect from the name, the finish was very dry.

D: It's drinkable & a decent brew, but if you're a big stout fan, you'll probably want something else instead. I have a hard time believing this has the same parents as the Bully Porter.

A- Pours a pitch black color with a tan head, 1 finger in height. As it recedes, it leaves some clinging lace. After while the head recedes into a thin tan cap.

S- Roasted grain, chocolate, twangy barley (in a good way)

T- Starts out with an almost chocolate then I get a big bitterness and barley twang then it mellows out to touches of chocolate, coffee, some earthiness, cream/vanilla and some hop dryness.

M- Appropriately low carbonation, nice finish.

D- This is a very nice alternative to guinness extra stout in my book. It's very flavorful, has some complexity and is sessionable. Yes,yes and yes.

A- Pitch black color, non-transparent, very thin tan head that faded to a thin ring

S- Roasted coffee beans, cocoa, dark malts, grains

T- Roasted coffee, roasted malts, creamy, semi-sweet chocolate, slightly bready

M- Heavy bodied, medium carbonation, crisp flavor w/ a dry finish

D- Great dry stout

I truely enjoy this beer. Great flavors but not too overpowering. Good full feel and good dry stout finish.

Pours black with a light brown head. Mellow aromas of milk chocolate and creamy coffee, not as intense or complex as other stouts, but still a pleasing aroma.

Flavor has more chocolate and roasted coffee flavors. Swallow is smooth with a subtle dry and earthy aftertaste.

Not the greatest stout ever made, but I would easily pick it over a Guinness. I could easily drink several pints and be perfectly happy with my choice.

Poured this into a pint glass. It poured a dark chocolate Color with a tan head that didn't last very long. The smell of this beer is malty with a chocolate kick. It also had the chocolate and roasted malt flavor. All in all this was a decent beer, with a watery mouthfeel. I would prefer it to be a little thicker in the mouth, but in a pinch, it is better than some beers. I would drink this agian, if I couldn't find anything else to enjoy.
