I'm a big fan of Oktoberfest, and this is one of the best Oktoberfest brews you can buy.. every time I see this brew for sale I get excited! It has a great marzen lager taste but still with the boulevard beer taste. You can tell easily it's a boulevard and an Oktoberfest in one which is a Great combination. I will say compared to other oktoberfests this isn't quite as Sweet.. Maybe from the added yeast in each bottle? But either way this is a Great Brew, one of my favs.. Highly recommended! Wish they sold it year round!

Appearence is a deep golden color with a copper hue shot through it. The head quickly dwindled down to a thin sheet across the top of the brew. Good lacing.
The aroma was pretty strong, mostly malt. Caramel and a malty sweetness were most present. Along beside that was a light toastiness accompanied by unmalted barley.
First up for the taste came a strong toasted malt flavor. A toffee like sweetness hits next with a hint of fruitiness. A mild hop flavor is detectable towards the finish which lends a slight bitterness to the aftertaste.
Very smooth, rolls onto the palate. A good beer, while I'm not a fan of the style this brew was pretty tasty.

On tap for pint night at McNellie's OKC. Pours a clear amber with a foamy white head. Lots of carbonation rising from the glass. A faint aroma of bread and malt. That's good because malt is what you get. There's a bit of caramel and just a touch of hops on the end. Medium mouth with decent carbonation. It's not bad, but just doesn't have the depth of the really good Oktoberfest offerings.

Somewhat of a pale coppery color with little discernable head. Sharp aroma with a bit of a metallic smell/bite to it. Fairly malty flavor-nice residual sweetness against a crisp hop bitterness. Decent mouthfeel-somewhat soft and bready. Quite a drinkable and enjoyable brew.

Enjoyed from a 16 oz stein. Beer pours a very nice copper red with plenty of lace that dwindles to a thin strip that remains throughout the tasting. Hints of caramel, bread, and molasses. The 5.8 ABV compliments this malty sweet brew. The beer is slightly thin, but tasty. I'll definitely have a few more.

Appearance: A combination of copper and amber mixed together and filled my glass as I poured this beer. The white, fizzy head rose up to about one finger and quickly disappeared. A thin ring of bubbles remained around the circumference of the glass, but that too was eventually gone. There was no lacing.

Smell: The aroma was thin and wafty, with light hints of malt and a sharp, hop bite. A little bit of tart fruit came through as well.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and actually quite full for a beer of this style. It was sharp in the mouth and provided some tingle on the tongue.

Taste: This beer started out very thin and remained that way until a nice herbal hop element arose. It was balanced out by a sweet, semi-roasted malt character. Well into the finish, the hops started to diminish and the malt transformed into a nuttier, more toasted flavor. Also, at different points throughout the tasting, a hint of toffee was evident.

This style of beer is nowhere close to being one of my favorites, but Boulevard did an excellent job with this one. It seems a lot fuller and more balanced than others that I have tried.

This one is a dark orange/amber colored beer, with a white foamy head that takes off quickly. Looks real crisp/clear/refreshing. Its got that caramel malty scent to it that is familiar with this style. Pretty much same for the taste, very smooth, a slight and well balanced hop influence detected.. This is a lager that is worth enjoying.

Poured a clear amber, almost bourbon like, with a nice off white two finger head with some light lacing. Aromas of carmel malts and booze. On the palette it was like sipping cheap whiskey with malty undertones, kinda nice. Fair enough carbonation. Don't know if you could call this brew a Lager, but it sure had some Marzen qualities to it. Two thumbs up.

Love the bottle. Classic styling and label.

Pours the correct color, lovely amber brown/orange. Slightly light head but almost 2 fingers.

Aroma is clearly malt heavy with a nice toasty balanced nose.

Carbonation is perfect and mouthfeel medium which it should be for this type of beer.

Magic combination of malt chemistry produces a lovely balanced character of toasted and creamy/sweet flavors.

Finishes clean and smooth, begging for another. Very drinkable and a great session beer as any Oktoberfest should be. One of my favorites.

Clear and bright burntish orange color, thin sticky yellowed head, minimal spotty lacing.

Aroma is toffeeish, nutty, caramel dipped toasted edging; warming, clean, and soft with an overall sweet malt tone. Quite nice actually.

Taste is malty smooth, akin to becoming dopplebock-like but keeps a slight toastier edge and slight herbal hop backing to it. Mostly sweet with a light mixure of bready malts and caramel smoothness, lifting into some retracting toffee butter and nuts. Finish lends a bit of hoppy herbal grassy atop a slight roasty/toasty chewy malt.

Feel is silky smooth and malty thick, nearly full and buttery, not too cloying in sweetness but definately has a hangin' around-sticky thing to its character and body. A pleasant surprise as it slides right down. This is a keeper by the folks at Boulevard.
Drinkability high and easy going. And at 5% this is a super sessionable brew to behold. Too bad its a seasonal. Astonishly good stuff!

Not just because I am from KC but the fact is Bob's 47 is simply the best Oktoberfest beer I have ever had, in my humble opinion. No two ways about it.!! Forget about it!!

Bottle Inspection: Best by 12/01/06 (sampled 1/1/07) Hand carried back from Little Rock

Aroma: Light noble hop with light lemon grass backed by a sweet malt base. Nice balance allows both to shine.

Appearance: Very clear amber glass holds a thin head and fair collar that manages a few loops of lace.

Flavor: Nice tea flavor shifts to an almost citric hop. Crisp European hops backed by a nice barley malt, excellent balance.

Mouthfeel: Good carbonation level keeps the medium body lively but not fizzy.

Overall Impression: Smooth flavor melds the four natural ingredients in a solid fashion so that none stand out, but all are tasted. Total package is refreshing and clean, but with solid flavor. Easy drinking, very nice beer, recommended.

This beer pours an amber color with a small head that falls fast and doesn't leave much lacing on the glass. The aroma is very clean with some hints of caramel and diacetyl. The flavor has some caramel malts and a certain nuttiness about it. Not as clean as the nose would suggest. Interesting, but not my thing.

Draught: Mine poured a crystal clear amber color, with a bit of carbonation going on in there. A bit of a white head with about no lacing. The aroma was decent enough, but a little light. Slightly grassy with a whiff of caramel. The taste is slightly dry with a hint of spicy bitterness to it. Not too bad.
