Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Saison-Brett, based on our very popular Tank 7, is assertively dry hopped, then bottle conditioned with various yeasts, including Brettanomyces, a wild strain that imparts a distinctive earthy quality. Though this farmhouse ale was given three months of bottle age prior to release, further cellaring will continue to enhance the “Brett” character, if that's what you're after.

.750ml bottle into Libbey Tulip
Bottled 1/28/15 it's been sitting in the cellar for some time
L- Pours a slightly hazy blonde with a huge white foam head, that leaves plenty of lacing
S- sweet grainy bready aroma, floral notes, along with pineapple,
T- similar to the nose, with plenty of funkiness as well, which is complimented by the dry bubbly mouthfeel of the Brett
F- medium-bodied, dry and effervescent, with a tight bubbly feel
Overall a great Saison, further enhanced by the Brett character

A - Brilliant golden body, mostly clear, with a touch of haze, and ferocious carbonation. Head is full and sticky, with lots of lacing. A beautiful beer to behold.

S - Lemon, coupling with pear and apple, mild floral elements, a hint of plastic and earthy tones complementing. A welcome, bretty nose, with lots of good things to dig into.

T - Follows the nose, with a nice earthy core over which glides lemon and pear flesh, apple skin and white wine, luscious fruits and spice. Delicious.

M - Very brisk carbonation, a bit of drying.

O - This is one tremendously satisfying beer. I love Tank 7, and this expands on it. Rich and layered, but superbly drinkable and pleasant. I have to get more of this one, when I next find it. It genuinely contests with the traditional saisons in quality.

Delicious. These guys make some amazing beer. Really dry light body. Nice crisp carbonation. Subtle fruit and pepper flavor with a slight sweetness.

Pours a straw orange color with a large soapy head that rivals some of the best Belgians. It retains throughout.
The aroma features at first a touch of lemon tartness, followed by a pleasant floral aroma. There is also a significant helping of sweetness from the malts and peach like fruitiness.
This one is a real treat in the mouth. Interesting and complex. At the first sip one immediately notices the tartness from the brett. However, it is not overwhelming, really, only a touch. There truly is a lot more going on here than just sour. The malt presence is softly felt in the background. There is a dry fruitiness as was evident in the aroma. There is a touch of bitterness from the hops. Also, one thing that truly stands out for me is how peppery it feels in the mouth. Another thing that stands out is how dry the finish is. Overall, quite flavorful.
I would describe the body as medium. It is easy to drink and pairs well with just about any meal.
I think this might be truly one of the best and intense saison I've ever had. I hope to have it again.

Pours a deep gold/pale amber producing a huge, to the point of being difficult to pour, clumpy, finely bubbled, lasting, white head that leaves chunky blotches & rings of lace. Loads of carbonation bubbling up long after the pour. Aroma is wet hay, earthy & phenolic (Band-aide) Belgian yeast funk, tart citrus (lemon /lime?), hints of pineapple & pear, peppery spice, some egg whites, thin banana, thin cloves & mild resinous hops. Taste is Brett mustiness, Band-aide phenolic, earth, citrus & pine hops, carbonation heavy peppery bite, more intense fruitiness than the nose adding peach & melon to the previously mentioned fruits along with a little green apple & grapefruit in the finish. The aftertaste is earthy, phenolic & fruity with a lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with high carbonation, lively in the mouth, peppery, prickly, astringent in the finish & lightly dry aftertaste. Similar to, but not quite as hoppy as, Green Flash Rayon Vert.
