Bottled 06/08/18, best by 06/08/21.

Pours golden amber, low soft head of carb that settles into a thin ring around the beer.

Lots of tart cherry and apricot on the nose, with a very mild white grape must to round it out. Tart, and with just enough funk.

More of that great cherry tartness, with a mildly nutty, oakey backbone. Tart, lightly acidic, with a fruity berry quality in the finish.

Soft, acidic, very lightly dry. Smooth, tart finish.

Pours a transparent burgundy-brown with a finger of fizzy, khaki head. Head retention is poor. Aroma is plum, dark cherries, toffee, and a big lactic sour bite. Flavor profile is heavy plums, with a little orange zest, dark cherries, and oak. Fruit comes through pretty prominent, and then takes a hard dive into sour. Big twist on the sour. Mouth feel is medium-thin with a fizzy, bubbly texture. Overall, a solid sour that is indeed - sour. Plums and dark cherries add a good notes of fleshy fruit among the lactic sour lashing.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 750mL bottle.

On tap. Poured a clear, golden burgundy color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It smelled of dried dark cherries, lemon, oak and some caramel. Very tart and puckeringly sour with a good cherry presence.

Whoever said that the R.O.I. on sour ale has to be low forgot to get the message to the Boulevard brewing team. Strong, sour, tantalizingly fruity and spicy, this beer of spontaneity might as well be a potion of love.

Tawny gold and cast in a firm and foggy gaze, Love Child #9 sheds a beaded necklace of foam before striking the nose with vinous fruit, cider, peppery spice and a brazen acidic tone that tightens the jaws and triggers that saliva glands with a mere sniff. Scant on sweetness, any malt flavor has been reduced to a slightly nutty, slighty toasty shell of sweetness once the beer tiptoes on the front of the tongue.

But then the fruit explodes on the middle palate, sheading light on the beer's underpinnings of dry French cider, rose wine, cherry and a host of pitted fruit. Cranberry, gooseberry, plum, blackberry and strawberry add a tang to the nearly vinegarized sourness that keeps the taste clean, peppery and acutely sour through the later tastes.

Medium light in body, the beer's higher than usual alcohol, for sour ale, allows for a cola-like tact to rest on the tongue, fueling a medium length aftertaste of cherry skins, marzipan and driftwood.
