Brewed by:
Boulevard Brewing Co.
Missouri, United States

Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
The classic India Pale Ale is a traveler’s beer, aggressively hopped to withstand the long, hot ocean voyage to the British East Indies. Our Double-Wide I.P.A. also travels well, and is right at home in the most exotic ports of call of the Midwest. While this modern-day prairie schooner may not resemble a graceful sailing sloop, our liberal hopping regimen does make her virtually “twister-proof,” with toffee and caramel notes balancing out the lingering bitterness. Enjoy this beer fresh to best appreciate the complex blending of hop aromas, ranging from minty to citrusy, with subtle hints of pine.

A: pours a copper/orange color, its cloudy. Produces a big white head that fades quickly.

S - smells of citrus, grapefruit, american hops, pine, some sweet smelling makts in there giving it a balanced nose.

T - hop bitterness. The taste follows the nose greatly! Grapefruit, pine, hops, citrus. The discreet malts shine through ever so slightly.

M - Medium bodied beer with medium carbonation. Its smooth and drinkable

O: great ipa. Everything i look for in a ipa. Try this one! Cheers!

12oz to a snifter, enjoy by 7/30/13

Pours a dark reddish gold with a finger and a half of yellow tinged foam. The clarity is low, very cloudy and murky with chunks of yeast. Retention and lacing are good. The look would be a lot better if it didn't look like it was snowing inside my glass. Aroma of acrid hops, some piny citrus, and a sharp malt. I like that it's strong, but fails to translate to the nose well. Taste isn't too bad, spicy hops pack a nice kick that contrast well with a slightly boozy malt. Sort of reminds me of a barley wine. Mouth was probably the best part, left the mouth dry and sticky, good bitterness, and a well executed finesse between having the alcohol influence the taste without it packing any heat and detracting from the overall taste. Drinks pretty easy.

Overall this beer has potential. I have no idea when it was bottled but maybe a fresher one could alleviate the things bringing it down, such as the look and smell
