Style: American Pale Lager
Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.80%
Availability: Year-round
Notes / Commercial Description:
Like many American burgs, our town was once home to a number of small, regional breweries. As they disappeared, so too went the full-flavored but easy drinking classic American lager. Today, we salute these bygone breweries and revive their legacy with Boulevard KC Pils: 100% malt, real hop character, unpasteurized. It’s the taste of tradition.

A: Poured from a bottle in a glass. Brilliantly clear, gold. Head was gone in 30 seconds. Some lacing.
S: Smells like Saaz hops and pilsner malt. 2 of my favorites. Expecting more adjunct aroma but not finding it.
T: The beer has a lot more bitterness than I was expecting. No hop flavor, only bitterness. The bitterness lingers. No malty sweetness. This beer is quite dry.
M: I prefer this style more carbonated. It's a little thin and it's not giving me any wow factors. Goes down really easy.
O: It's good. I'd like a touch more malt sweetness to balance the hops and a touch more carbonation. Worth trying once but I wouldn't repeat.

Pours an orangey-gold color with a small white head. The color has more depth than a cheap pils.
A touch of grainy malt in the nose, maybe a hint of honey and lemongrass with some faded leafy hops.
The taste starts with a kiss of sweet malt and fades into a dry, crisp, and refreshing finish.
My first impressions of this beer are better than my overall impression. It can start to taste macro after a while, which it isn't all bad if that's what you're shooting for.

A: This beer poured a nice straw yellow with a decent white head that didn't stick around, except for its ring which is leaving some decent lacing.
S: Smells of grain and hops and a bit of lemony citrus.
T: Tastes a bit dull on first touch to the toungue but actually highlights all parts of the smell within the beer, and adds on that nice bitterness towards the end.
M: Not overly watery, and not overly carbonated.
D: Good overall beer, I'd have to agree with one poster on here saying that he likens it to Schlitz, or Hamms... feels like the same deal here.
Cheers.

Gold in color with excellent clarity. Lively carbonation bubbles are surfacing from the depths within. There's a fingernail of bright white resting on top. Aroma of very clean smelling pilsner malt and faint German Hallertau hops is present. The taste is much more Hallertau hop forward than the nose advertises. No adjuncts here. The mouth is very crisp, smooth, and refreshing. Highly quaffable and just enough flavor.

Pours a gold color, good clarity, thin head leaving some lacing. Aroma is very feint, tastes clean and crisp but with a slight metallic sense and no real significant hops or malts -- this is a real generic type lager in the American (not German) style, I'm a nut for good pilsners but this one sadly falls short. If the goal here was to produce an American lager without the gagging bad taste of a Bud or Miller, good job. If it was to create a good pilsner with a flavor profile, go back to "start."

Notes for recent beer tasting club.
The Boulevard Pilsner is a smooth drinking pilsner. The color was golden clear in color with not much head. There was no smell other than hints of grain. The beer was a very solid pilsner with great taste, it was not over powered by grain. The mouthfeel was very nice, this beer is easy drinking.

A: Clear, golden and yellow, thick, bubbly head with great retention and lacing
S: Grainy-grass and straw with subtle hops
T: Grains and subtle earthiness are prevalent at the front end; after taste is pleasant although a bit thin
F: Slightly thin and watery but fairly good for the style
D: This is a good example of a pilsner: simple and tasty; this might become a go to session beer

Poured into a wide flute. AMAZING. Perfect tall white head on top of golden straw colored lager. I have not seen a pilsner look like this since I left Germany.
Normal smell: faint fruit, banana and honey.
Very smooth throughout. Watery at first, sweeter, touch of bitterness at the end. It does not have the typical pilsner "bitter hop bite," which I do not particularly miss, but others may.
Smooth, easy drinking. Low carbonation and crisp, light body.
A perfect hot day drink or after a run. Crisp and refreshing while having a good flavor.

into an imperial Carlsberg etched glass
pours a very clear golden with a light white head. nice retention
light crisp malts and slight saaz.
very malty. deep biscuit malts with a very slight floral saaz presence. malts are just dominating here.
full bodied, proper carbonation
this is a very easy drinking beer. nothing spectacular and something the macro crowd could easily enjoy without stepping too far out of their macro box. nice malt flavors but needs more hops to add to the crispness.

Pours an effervescent honey color with a finger of beige head. Slight vicious look to this, zero head retention & lacing
S: Soapy & grassy hops, plus some perfumy hops once warm
T: Breadyness, grassy & soapy hops, plus a touch of honey malt. Grassyness & soapyness continue to dominate as this warms along with a bit of dryness. Finishes slightly grainy with some lemony hops & a slight pear fruittyness
MF: Medium bodied with fairly soft carbonation. Balances alright
Drinks pretty easy, but nothing to get too excited about here, I hoped for more to be honest. A rare miss from Boulevard
