Steep Drop Nitro Coffee Milk Stout was crafted to showcase local custom-roasted beans. This smooth, creamy beer blooms with notes of honey, molasses, citrus and cocoa powder. A mild nuttiness is accentuated by caramel and chocolate malts with a touch of flaked oats.

Poured out of a 12 oz can into one of my pint glasses, this beer pours a dark, deep red/amber color with an off-white head that's about 1/4 inch thick when first poured. Right off the bat, the color is certainly too light for a stout. Settles quite quickly to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass with some swirls of surface on the beer's surface and a bit of lacing here and there, but not really very much. Aromas of roasted, bready malt sweetness, some lactose, and certainly also some coffee notes. A pretty similar taste, with the aforementioned roasted, bready, caramel malt sweetness followed by some definite lactose and roasted coffee notes that are rounded out with some earthy hop notes. All of the flavors could be a bit stronger I feel. Has a slightly watery, crisp, refreshing, light to medium bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. This particular beer is too refreshing for even this style of stout. This is not at all a bad beer per say, especially on this hot summer evening I am drinking it on, it is just wrong in some important aspects for this style. Drinks more like an amber or a brown ale. If someone gave this to me and told me this was a brown ale, I'd say it is a pretty good brown ale and would never guess it is a stout.

Popped and sprayed a bit when opening the can. I immediately poured it upside down into my glass. Decent pour and cascade, I could not appreciate it as much as I had to clean up the droplets that were sprayed, but no biggie. Beautiful jet black color, and a creamy tan head that lasts throughout the entire session. It certainly looks and arguably tastes like some sort of latte (well it looks like an espresso and tastes like a latte at least). Nice coffee aroma, and coffee lactose taste. It's creamy and smooth as is expected from a nitro. Malts come out a bit as well, but mostly a one trick pony in terms of being like an espresso latte, which is very much the same with all nitro coffee stouts I've had so far. It hits its angle well.

This beer is just over one year old so probably not a fair rating; just felt muted in both smell and taste

12/12/21 Can from mix and match from Kroger's in Morgantown.
Overall a very average stout. Black opaque with very little head from this can. Wonder if this would be the same from tap. Very smooth and drinkable. Coffee and low bitter taste. Smell is nice and strong of coffee. Some sweetness comes through. Pecan coconut and honey as well.

From a can. Pour has a very dense but thin layer of khaki foam and a dark, dark brown body. Scent has a touch of sweetness while the coffee is ever present (along with a hint of bitterness). Taste is fairly muted, but the coffee is evident and not overwhelming, notes of chocolate abound, and the sweetness of the milk stout is evident. Feel is phenomenal, smooth bordering on silky with a perfect milk stout sensation. While not the most in your face milk stout, it has a nice profile (and that feel is really next level).

There's not really any other way to describe this than to say it is cold brew coffee with alcohol in it. If you have ever been to whole foods and gotten cold brew coffee out of one of their little nitro taps...it is this. But in addition to getting drunk, you can get heart palpitations from it?

I'm always up for a nitro beer, and this one's pretty good. I'm not a coffee guy, but do enjoy a coffee stout (go figure). This one is pretty light ABV, and it's definitely a very heavily coffee-flavored beer, so you might think you're drinking coffee with a little kick to it. I didn't get the honey or molasses notes because the coffee flavor overwhelmed it, but I did get some of the caramel on the back end. Interesting beer here, though maybe not everyone's cup of tea (you get the point).

Drain pour. In fact the next 5 of the 6 I bought will also be a drain pour. I know I paid for them but my liver only has so much life in it.
Be advised that if you buy this, you will be drinking coffee, not beer. Cold coffee. With some beer poured in it. The look and feel is the same as cold watery coffee. For cold coffee, it's not an unpleasant taste, so if that's your thing, go for it.
I adore Boulevard beers. But they risk damaging their brand with this. Personally I think they should treat it like a factory recall: take it off the shelves ASAP. Give it to the needy as a 2020 Christmas present and they'll get a tax write-off too.

A- Tulip-snifter hybrid pour from the 12oz can. The body is a very dark mahogany brown and a one finger cap results with a thick and luscious texture. Very nice head retention with lacing that forms in large, thick sheets.
S- Smells like coffee, for the most part, with a medium-dark roast complimented nicely by a moderate sweetness and toasted to roasted grains. Caramel, nuttiness, brown sugar, vanilla desserts, cocoa powder and toast come to mind but mostly the coffee here.
T- The roast grains and bitterness that were pushed to the back in the aroma are more up front here and it is hard to say how much comes from the coffee beans and how much from the grains. Prominent medium-dark roast coffee leads into caramel, toast, nuts and roast barley. Slight breadiness and dark fruits as well.
MF- Doesn't quite live up to other packaged nitro brews here. Very much on the light side and comes off a bit watery with just a touch of the nitro silkiness here.
The coffee itself is quite nice, especially in the aroma and the beer finds a nice coffee, nutty and bittersweet overall flavor profile. Feels rather thin and that doesn't quite suit the flavors.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with no head whatsoever. Smell is of roasted malts, some chocolate. Taste is of coffee with cream, chocolate is present, very easy drinking. Feels light bodied in the mouth and overall it ain't bad, but it's nothing special.
