Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard we have fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

Pours a semi-hazy medium orange gold with a significant near white head that leaves significant lacing. Excellent aroma with citrusy notes up front and herbal grassy notes in the background. Taste is outstanding with bright spicy notes balanced with a yeasty spiciness that really puts this beer over the top. Carbonation is tight and bright with an excellent mouthfeel.

I don't have a lot of experience with this style, but what I've had so far has been really enjoyable. This is an outstanding beer that comes from a brewery I am liking more and more.

Picked up a cage and corked 750 ml bottle from the Alpine , CA Frontier Liquor Store in early September for $9.99. Best by 8-2014.

Beer poured a pale yellow with a beautiful white head that is leaving lacing behind.

Nose is classic Belgian yeast esters and citrus hops.

Taste is lemon-pepper, grapefruit, with a dry hop-peppery finish.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and very smooth and light across the palate.

Overall this is an awesome beer that is a must try if you enjoy this style!

Sweet, fruity, spicy and bursting with grapefruit and citrus aroma. Almost like an IPA/Saison hybrid, highly recommended.
