Tank 7 Farmhouse AleTank 7 Farmhouse Ale

Brewed by:
Boulevard Brewing Co.
Missouri, United States

Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard we have fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

A wonderful smelling beer. Spicy and yeasty fruity it's all in there.
Golden color with a slight hazy. A tall beige head formed on top and lasted along while because of the strong carbonation, pleasing to the eye.
The taste is dry and tart with some pale malts and yeast but starts out sweet then bitter good.

A: Pale yellow with a full three fingers of white soft head.

S: Lemon and grapefruit all the way. Big citrus up front, but once the hop aroma fades a touch you start to pick up a little of the tartness of the yeast, followed by an earthy and herbal smell.

T: Nice bread flavor, followed by grapefruit, the finish is a touch sweet, and a touch tart. Nice, easy drinking, crisp and refreshing.

M: Medium light in body, fairly high carbonation, although there is a nice softness to it.

O: Overall pretty tasty. I like the hopped up version of the style, but it is a little buzzkillington if you are looking for a more traditional saison.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip.

Hazy gold with 3 fingers of creamy, white head. Great retention with moderate carbonation.

Peach, hay, pineapple, potpourri, pink peppercorn, spent grain, lemon, and passion fruit.

Peach, passion fruit, pineapple, and lemon. Spent grains drizzled in honey. Potpourri, hay, and pink peppercorn.

Medium-light bodied, crisp, juicy, and semi-dry.

Juicy and tropical yet it still keeps its rustic appeal. Absolutely phenomenal Saison!
