Brewed by:
Boulevard Brewing Co.
Missouri, United States

Style: Maibock / Helles Bock

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.10%

Availability: Spring

Notes / Commercial Description:
Boss Tom’s Golden Bock is our seasonal offering for late spring. The smooth, soft maltiness of this traditional lager is complemented by a noticeable but restrained hop presence. The beer finishes with a lingering dryness and just a hint of caramel. The word “bock” also means “billy goat,” and images of goats are often used as a symbol of the style.

As a disclaimer, this beer was sampled about 5 months past expiration so its marks may be slightly lower than normal.

Golden, straw colored lager. Weak head with poor retention and no lacing.

Light aroma of fresh bread, dry rice and corn.

Cereal grains come through in the taste. Mild flavor of white bread. Just a hint of earthy, leafy hop character. Smooth overall and a bit musty tasting. Finish is clean with no residual flavor at all.

Light bodied with a sharp, snappy carbonation.

This stuff is just ok. Its best quality is that it is easy to drink.

Poured from the bottle clear golden tone with a thin white head.

Aroma of sweet malts, biscuit with a bit of light fruitiness.

Tasted of sweet malts, cinnamon and herbal notes. Finishes clean.

Light to medium bodied with a tad of stickiness and a moderate carbonation.

A decent bock from Boulevard but nothing real special.

Thanks to my folks for picking this beer up for me, along with many others on their trip to Arkansas.

Clear, and pale sunshine color with average bubbling. Not much in the way of head or foam.

Medium toasted grain, biscuits and syrupy crackers. Hops add some cut grass to the mix for balance.

Very crisp and mildly toasted cracker, biscuit, and bread crust malt taste. Hops clean the palate a little with some added earthy grass and Earthen flavors.

Great session Boack that makes me think of late Spring... in the evening with friends... while its raining and we are hanging out in my garage.

Boulevard Boss Tom’s Golden Bock has a thin, white head, and a mostly clear, golden color, with lots of fine particulate matter floating about, an enormous amount of streaming bubbles, and little lacing. The aroma is of sweet bread, clean water, and a touch of hops. Taste is sweet, bready, hoppy, grassy, and good. The mouthfeel is light and watery, and Boulevard Boss Tom’s Golden Bock finishes crisp, clean, easy-drinking, and refreshing. Overall, I really like this and recommend you give it a chance.

Brassy straw colored with a grey, smallish head that shrinks to a skim. Toasted malt and faintly sweet aroma. Toasty and clean with a mild hop bite that is rereshing. Lean bodied with sharp carbonation. A well made, no frills lager but nothing special.

Bottle into pint glass. Reviewed from notes.

This looks like a cream soda. Bright clear golden yellow-- fizzy white head and turrets of streaming bubbles. No retention. No lacing.

Smells like German malts-- sweet, but not overly so. Noble spicy hops finish it off. Very boring and bland in my opinion.
I understand brewing and reviewing to style, but this truly seems like a middle of the road offering from a brewery that I enjoy.

The body is medium with a soft creamy feel to it.

Overall-- Meh. Take it or leave it. I'll be leaving it.
