With roots in two of today's most popular brewing styles, 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer is the result of careful cultivation by our brewers and cellarmen. Poured from bottle to a weizen glass, best by 10/16/2012.

A: Fluffy, white head with lemon yellow body, golden hues, slightly cloudy.

S: Wheat, citrusy hops, and a slightly Belgian profile of coriander and lemon peel.

T: Very tasty brew for a regular release, albeit a new one. Wheat, citrusy hops, lemon peel, grapefruit, and a bit of bubble gum. Very nicely done.

M: Refreshing without being watery, hoppy without ripping your tongue off.

O: Very well executed new entry by Boulevard. I believe this is going to be a year-round regular release, and may very well be my new favorite at this tier from Blvd.

Pours an effervescent & slightly chill hazed straw color with 2 fingers cream colored head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Lemons & greassyness

T: Follows the nose, wheaty tartness & dryness up front. Grassyness & dryness as this warms, slight pineyness as well, some lemon zest & some cereal notes. Finishes with some white grape, drynness & lemons & grapefruit, just a bit of juicy fruit too

MF: Medium bodied, slight carbonation

Very drinkable but not in the league of Lagunita's itteration

Poured into a Boulevard tulip glass.

The body is murky, and a color that Crayola would be proud to call Sunburnt Hay. A white foam cap recedes to an even film while very light lacing comes and goes. The aroma has sharp citrus notes like orange, and the faintest touch of sweet apricot. The taste conveys the perfect blend of hops and wheat. Lemon zest and orange peel dominate. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, dry.

Overall, a perfectly drinkable beer with lots of citrus.

A new year round beer from Boulevard, 80 Acre just hit the shelves here in KC. Had to pick up a sixer.
Best by 10-16-12. Poured into a Nonic Pint.

A- Pours a cloudy straw yellow color with 3 fingers of pillowy white head that has some staying power and looks like it will lace well.

S- Super dose of hops on the nose. Lots of pungent pine and grapefruit and other citrus fruits. Slightly floral. Smells like a true hop bomb.

T- Hmmm. The hop bomb on the nose is not really there in the taste. It is hoppy don't get me wrong, but the hops are not near as front and center as the nose suggests. Nice smooth easy drinkablity form the base wheat beer. Interesting and refreshing.

M- Crisp on the palate. The carbonation is spot on and add another refreshing layer to this beer. If feels pretty light in body. This could easily be sessionable.

O- I am pleased. Boulevard calls this "a delightfully distinctive ale with the aroma of and IPA and the refreshing taste of a wheat beer." I think they got it right. This is an easy drinker that will make a great offering to an already solid line up.

Heard they just stocked up at the grocery, figured I'd give it a go. Have never been drawn to Wheat Beers but it seemed like an interesting concept.

The color was that of a wheat, but it smells as IPA'y as anything I have come across- citrusy hops. The sequence of tastes was exactly as the name describes- hoppy wheat. At very first, hops are all that is discernible but it finishes like a wheat and you forget the hops were there. It was really odd to me that it was so black then white.

I wish it was a bit more harmonious but not a bad beer. I like it more than their wheat for sure. So I'd say it's worth trying at least once. Not bad, not great.

Looks a lot like a Belgian wheat with it’s butter yellow and hazy appearance; very good head formation, with a tall, foamy, white cap; retention is good too, as is the lacing

I could smell the hops in the air a couple feet from my glass, so yeah, it’s hoppy. Not sure what varieties were used, but it somewhat reminds me of Odell’s IPA or maybe their St. Lupulin. Somewhat floral and citrusy hops; a bit delicate and not nearly as oily/pungent as say a West Coast IPA. There’s also a nice wheat component detectable, further adding to the mix.

Taste delivers a lot of hops, though it’s not as assertive and bracing as a full-on IPA. I think it must be the wheat countering them. And I really like it. 80 Acre is very drinkable and delicious. Body is light-medium, making this a nice one for the summer. Finishes hoppy, but not especially bitter—just a good hop flavor lingering. Hops are bright, with mainly citrus notes, though there almost seems to be a light hint of mint.

I like Boulevard’s core lineup, but I don’t buy them often at all. I think that’s changed now with 80 Acre. I will be buying this one again soon, and I can’t wait to try it on tap somewhere. This is nice new beer by Boulevard, and I’m excited to see them offer something that’s a newer style.

I'm under the impression that this one had been sitting in the brewery under a name of test hoppy for a little while.

I picked up a 6 pack upon it's first day of release in our area and have now had 3 of these.

Pouring it out, it builds a fast 2 to 3 finger head in my tulip glass. Really cloudy beer, it's a nice pale yellow appearance.

My absolute favorite point of this beer is the smell. Pure lemongrass and a twist of bitter citrus. I almost hate drinking it, as it's just a joy to sniff on the nose for a while.

The taste, for the most part follows the nose. About the only real knock I have against it is the hoppy flavor isn't very pronounced. Even though it's in the name, it's not in your face at all. While I would describe the mouthfeel as medium to thin, it doesn't hurt this beer at all. In fact, it makes it that much more of a sessionable beer.

Be ready for a flavor that's a bit light, but in spite of that, this may be my new goto lawnmower beer for the summer months sub-planting the Bridgeport IPA's I've been keeping around. It's just a pleasure to gulp down even as you take in the aroma. A definite step up from Boulevard's mainstream beer Unfiltered Wheat.

A -Poured very cloudy, just what I would expect to see in a good wheat beer. Minimum white head and little lacing,

S - This definitely has an IPA influence. In the nose the citrusy, piny, hoppy notes take over. Very pleasing aroma.

T -The very first thing you taste is hops. That quickly turns to a sweet wheat flavor with some citrus overtones, lemon specifically. It finishes with a sweet, but not overly dry finish. The boulevard website says that this only has 20 IBU's, which is very surprising. Although it isn't bitter, the flavor of the hops is very apparent throughout the taste of this beer. Superb

M - Very crisp and smooth.

O - This is a delicious beer. I'm normally an IPA guy, so of course I like it. But this is more than just a great IPA or Wheat Beer alone. I'm glad to see that this is a year-round offering, because it has earned a permanent spot in my fridge.

The beer pours a slightly hazy straw color with a white head. The aroma has a good bit of pine, as well as some light orange citrus notes. There is also some nice wheat in the aroma. The flavor is very similar. The wheat really comes through up front, with some lighter pine and orange notes, as well as some grass and a bit of pepper. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very nice.

I visited the Boulevard Brewery a week ago and got to try this up and coming beer. The official name for it is 80 Acre Hoppy Wheat.

Light golden color with a medium size white head that dissipated at a medium rate.

Taste is similar to the unfiltered wheat with some hop to it. Very subtle hints of citrus that compliment the overall taste very well.

Very good combination of the two styles of beer. Can't wait for this to be available.

This should be available sometime this year (2012) according to the brewery in 6-pack bottles.
