Dark and blasphemous beer that invigorates the soul. The witchy bitterness of yarrow combined with fruitness of Citra hops and the roasted caramel flavour of five different dark malts invite to an intense tastescape a pious tongue would choose avoid. Alas, the devil has it`s ways.

Pours a deep, dark mahogany coloration with a ruby red sheen when held up to the light and a medium, creamy, lasting head. Smells of roasted, caramel malt, chocolate and lighter coffee and licorice, with some herbal accents coming through as well. Taste is a great balance of roasted, caramel malt, chocolate, coffee and lighter peppery spice, dark fruit, with notes of fig and raisin, as well as hints of citrus zest, licorice, tobacco and herbal notes reminiscent of rosemary and bog myrtle. Finishes bittersweet, with some chocolate, peppery spice, licorice and herbal accents lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This makes for a very interesting and well-balanced brew with a great harmony of sweet, roasted and bitter, as well as spicy, herbal and slightly fruity accents. The herbal additions certainly come though noticeably, lending a very different character to this beer and fitting in well with the peppery spice and licorice, perhaps adding to it, being reminiscent of bog myrtle, which has a certain anise note to me. The Citra hops also add a subtle hint of lemon peel, which somehow fits in nicely here. Overall, this makes for a very unique drinking experience that feels rich, well-balanced and full of character.

A: Pours a near pitch black color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a nice cap that leaves good lacing
S: Roasted malt, yarrow root, dark chocolate, citrus, and caramel
T: Follows the nose. Starts off with a mix of roasted malt, yarrow root, and dark chocolate. Picks up the citrusy hops, caramel, and general herbal notes. Finishes with lingering yarrow and herbal tones
M: Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. On the smoother side
O: A very interesting dark ale/stout that makes for a nice sipper as it goes through some phases as it warms. The yarrow is definitely interesting as is the huge amount of influence the citra hops have on the overall beer. Worth checking out
