L - darker golden/yellow with a hazy, opaque appearance with a large off-white head that sticks around and leaves a ton of lacing behind.
S - a solid amount of piney hops on the nose along with tropical and citrus notes - some floral and earthy notes
T - follows the nose with piney, bitter hops up front and throughout along with floral and grassy notes as well as a decent amount of tropical and citrus notes.
F - medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Smooth, creamy, yet crisp
O - a really fantastic DIPA from Aslin with a lot more hop and floral notes than most of their NEIPAs.

A wonderful DIPA from Aslin. It looks and smells gorgeous like a traditional NEIPA. It's less sweet than some Midwest NE style IPAs and I like it for that. I'll continue to seek this one out and all Aslin beers when I can get them.

Pouring from a 16 oz. can into a Willi Becher style glass, this beer pours out like a very thick sunny d. One finger worth of tingy white, thick crown sits at the top.

The smell is straight up like juice; mango, melon, pineapple, pink grapefruit, papaya. It’s got a nice, grassy green-ness to it.

The taste comes in with malt being more evident than in the nose. Crackers, bread and some caramel malt like sweetness all tangle with papaya, pink grapefruit and slight grassiness.

The mouthfeel is soft with dry touches of cracker and bread. A touch of accenting bitterness. A full body, and almost creaminess to it.

Overall, I’m really glad I got to try this. It’s my first from Aslin, and it doesn’t disappoint.

L: had this beer on-tap at Growlers to Go - Short Pump, poured into a snifter glass. Had an orange color and a super cloudy consistency. There was a half inch of creamy, somewhat long-lasting head. Fantastic lacing.

S: A sweet and enticing aroma of hops, citrus fruit, malt, and tropical fruit.

T: Tasted of a mild amount of malt (mostly in the finish), some citrus notes (grapefruit, in particular), lots of tropical fruit (mango), a moderate amount of hops, and a little floral quality. Like all of Aslin's IPAs, this one is incredibly focused and quite effervescent. It's incredibly fruity, but never cloyingly sweet. Delicious.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a sharp finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Another well made Aslin beer. Drinkable.

Blurry orange body with an incredibly fuzzy soft white head. Gorgeous lacing.

Nose is soft with some overripe banana, but not like... smoothie committed to that. Some green tropical fruits... think papaya and the like.

Again soft fruits and a light bitterness. There's almost an interesting like... pecan nutty character as well.

Softy and smoothe with nice little pinpricks of effervescence.
A pleasant balance of light bitterness and some crushed tropical fruit. A solid example of a style that may not be my favourite, but I'm enjoying this can. Thanks to @gopens44 for sending it along my way!

Vibrant cloudy orange with a finger of creamy-looking white head that leaves thick rings of lacing. Weedy, green onion, cat piss aroma. Those elements transition right over to the taste, coupled with a little candied orange. Full bodied with some zippy carbonation beneath. Excellent beer.

Looks like a NEIPA. Pineapple juice, white head.

Smells like tropical fruits, with some piney notes in the background.

Tastes great. Grapefruit juice, some sweetness in there. Nothing crazy just a really solid ipa. Aftertaste more sweet than bitter.

An easy medium body comes with just a bit of carbonation

Pours a cloudy dark orange with a half inch off white head that leaves nice lacing. Smells of citrus and tropical fruits along with some pine, floral and herbal notes. Tastes of pink grapefruit, grapefruit rind, mango, peach, melon, resin, floral and herbal notes. Slightly on the sweet side with a little malt presence. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated (a bit under carbonated IMO), light to moderate bitterness to balance out the sweetness, mildly dry finish.

Beautiful burnt orange pour with a heavy off-white head. Tremendously fragrant - smells wonderful, floral, hoppy, sweet. Pour still contains plenty of hop gunk at the bottom, even after thorough can rolling. This stuff is chock full of hops.

Taste notes are all over, pretty complex - it's sweet, soft, a bit resinous and dank, plenty of mango and citrus. Again - sweet!

Finish is just a bit dry and very pleasantly clean.

While Master of Karate isn't exactly a new, hype brew, it has a well-established reputation - and with good reason. It's a terrific beer, and I'm really wishing I had more. I could definitely use a regular Aslin trading buddy!

Big and frothy head crowns this hazy, burnt orange beer. Aroma starts out a little sandy earthy before tangerine and mango settle in, only to give way to a nose full of floral. Taste starts similar with a gritty, earthy bitter that carries a little veggie before tangerine and not quite ripe orange gives a big blast. As the taste fades out a bit of caramel sweetness joins grapefruit to supply both the finish and mostly dry aftertaste.

Wow what a beer! Pours an apricot in color. Head is off white with some nice lacing. Nose is sweet and bitter at the same time. The flavor was at first was underwhelming, but then the flavors started wafting the taste buds. Above average beer with liots to offer.

Richly malted yet firmly dedicated to hop flavor, the Aslin Beer Company delivers a roundhouse of flavor by riding the backs of Galaxy, Amarillo and Mosaic hops. Fruity and herbal, the beer takes on an earthy vegetation that's not just a master of hoppy punches but also of dirty martini.

Murky and silt-like, Master of Karate crowns with a creamy ivory meringue. Its radiant scent is of citrus, tropical fruit, orchard fruit and melon along with a stemmy, leafy, overall green scent that's remiss of chive, cannabis and floral geranium. Bready, pastry-sweet and succulent with a pep of honey, the malt influence is as starchy as it is sugary.

The sweetness casually relaxes on the middle palate and the starchy substrate of malt lingers in support the strong hop flavors of orange, pink grapefruit, passionfruit, guava, honeydew and pineapple. All the fruits take on as much of an over ripened taste as it does anything radiant or branch ripe. Trending herbal with grass clippings, chive and hemp, its vegetal taste on the late palate is rife with green tea, pearl onion, sassafras and green olive.

Medium bodied, the beer's early texture is richer and fuller but the development of dryness and a moderate bitterness has the ale sharpening its taste for a drier, crisper finish, but still with the strong tethers of starch and toast in tandem with the green hops in a deep aftertaste.

Pours a dark golden hazy, turbid hue. Some citrus on the nose. It's got a citrus soft mouthfeel, but it has an oaty vegetal finish. I liked it, but there are others in the Aslin portfolio that far outshine this.

On tap at Churchkey in D.C.

Pours a murky orange with soft, dense foam.

Smell is juicy with notes of oranges, peaches and meloncandy.

Taste is slightly dank with notes of melon, pineapple, grass and just a hint of booze. Soft bitterness and very nice balance.

Mouthfeel is medium and soft, but a bit undercarbonated.

Overall, a very tasty DIPA, great balance, but a bit low on carb.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy butterscotch color with a one finger head; splashy patterns of lacing emerge

Smell: Overripe pineapple, peach and apricot, with a dank edge

Taste: Dank from the outset, with a overripe tropical and stone fruits flavors; moderate bitterness builds, through the middle, bringing citrusy pith the mix; just a hint of melon sweetness underneath

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with low to moderate carbonation

Overall: A staple Aslin release but I think they make better beers than this one

F - medium-full body with average carb.

O - the ddh is slightly better, but this is awesome too.

Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my snifter. The beer pours a fairly hazy golden color with a frothy bleached white head of 2 cm foaming up with a gentle pour. The foam fades to a sturdy surface layer with some tight lacing on the sides of the glass.
The aroma is some citrus notes with orange and some other tropical notes. There is a bit of pine sap or resin in the nose as well. Maybe a little biscuit malt, but this is a hop forward brew.
The first sip reveals an average body with very fine and tingly carbonation. The average body with smooth texture is easy to drink and the can will be empty fairly quickly into my sampling.
The flavor is some citrus notes, again orange is dominant and some general sugar sweetness with a bit of general tropical fruit. I also get some biscuity malt and the finish hits with a bit of bitey resin hops that linger after each swallow. My palate dries out on the finish as well and the 8.4% booze is very well hidden the entire way through the sampling. This is a very drinkable NEIPA and its enjoyable as well. Worth sampling this beer if haze is your thing.

Poured into a snifter. A hazy/turbid yellow-acorn color with a modest white head. Nice retention. Aroma is there but not noticeable until I took a whiff. Mainly orange and citrus, with some earthy resin. Moderately bitter and soft feeling, with bright orange, tropical fruit, and a nice dank resiny balance. There was a slight astringency on the finish, but ABV well hidden. Outstanding.

Thanks to cp45 for this can, among others, that arrived yesterday in a wonderful Christmas-like box. 16 oz. can split with my wife.

The pour doesn’t look like beer, it looks like something from the Organic Florida Orange Colonic Cleanse section of Whole Foods. Smells like a bitter orange creamsicle with extra sugar. I’m in favor of all those things.

Master of Karate demands a mental paradigm shift. In PowerPoint. Still in orange creamsicle mode, with a disorienting shot of bitterness, followed by lactose, powdered sugar, & mild regrets. Ends with green wood, & drier than instant ramen. Half a pounder is going to be plenty.

I would like a mission statement on this beer. What were you going for? What was the intent? What was it supposed to taste like? Looks like I’m in the minority, but this is just a wicked mess. Decent.

Another very solid NEIPA from Aslin. A little muted in aroma and flavor IMO. Maybe 10 days old from canning date is old? Not sure. Anyway, its still a great beer from Aslin. Can't really go wrong with any of their NEIPAs they make.
