Received in a trade.

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice slightly hazy straw hue with a thin white head that fades to leave very light wisps.

S - Aromas of passion fruit galore. Really smells like fresh passion fruit pieces inside a glass of passion fruit. There is a bit of malts and grain and with some heavy swirls some sweet juicy mango comes out, fresh smelling as well.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Massive, massive massive musty passion fruit notes, very juicy. Then loads of crackery wheat followed by some excellent sweet overripe mango. Super bright and sweet and tropical. This may be the best representation of mango I have seen in a beer. There is none of the under ripe aspects or peel. Just loads of bright sweet tropical fruit with a lingering wheat finish. My goodness.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, crisp, clean with a light flemmy finish.

O - Overall this was an almost knee bucklingly delicious beer. Sure the appearance and mouthfeel are par for the course, and the nose is solid enough, the taste is just ridiculous. My goodness...are all Aslin's berliners like this??

The beer pours a nice bubbly white head that dissipates quickly and leaves nothing behind. The beer itself is a very good looking and clear pale straw color with a good golden hue.

The smell is absolutely fricking wonderful. It has a moderate tart note that contrasts extremely well with the powerful mango and light passion fruit.

The taste is pretty good but doesn't quite hold a candle to the smell. The taste has a much stronger tart note with hints of passion fruit and mango dancing around the edges and do not fully come out until the finish.

The feel is good. It is a light bodied beer with a very dry finish. The acidity is fairly strong to the point where it actually burns a little bit.

Overall, another fantastic berliner weisse from Aslin and worth every sip. I hope they make this one again.

Drank from a 500 milliliters can purchased at Aslin Beer Company, Herndon, VA
02/22/17
Served in a goblet

Hazy, pale straw yellow appearance. The body was capped by finely beaded, fizzy white crown that quickly dissolved. No lacing whatsoever.

The nose was pure tropical fruit bliss. Passionfruit dominated. There was an intense, exotic, overripe fruity note as well. I might not guess mango per se, but this seemed possible. Sweeter overall than expected for the style. Somewhat musty and funky. Wheaty. Bit of crisp lemony tartness too.

The flavor followed the nose. Big passionfruit notes right from the start. Fairly sweet up front. Somewhat tart and lemony as well. Wheaty in the center. Slightly musty. Touch of grainy malt. More lemony tartness on the back end and in the finish. Moderately acidic. Nice mix of lingering sweet-tart notes after the swallow.

Light, crisp, zippy mouthfeel. Lively and sprightly. A touch syrupy. The liquid turned somewhat creamy and frothy on the palate. Appropriate for the style. Toward the end of the glass, the acids in the beer felt like they were starting to strip the enamel from my teeth.

Every Aslin beer I have sampled thus far has been a home run, and this Berliner Weisse is no exception. It is truly remarkable how well this brewery does with so many different beer styles. I am already looking forward to my next trip to northern Virginia so that I can try more of their amazing offering.
