Agree with sothb77.

Creamy fruity drink. The vanilla stands out and I too thought this was going to taste artificial. This beer was a home run for me. It is truly a unique beverage. The three crowlers I purchased did not take long to finish. Well 3 days to be accurate. Blown away by this beer.

Jmplication on Reddit sent me two cans and WOW, these guys from Aslin deserve so much credit for what they're doin out in NOVA. Like everyone has said, pours that milky, frothy, orange with slight floaties and bits running around in the glass. The base beer on this must be fantastic because the P&V flavor it subtle yet compliments whatever heavenly juice this originated as. If I'm being totally honest, the beer does have some underlying sweetness that really becomes apparent after about 6-8oz of this nectar. Such a huge body and feel on the tongue, taste lingers and the bitterness of the hops seem to add even fruit flavors. No way in hell anyone would know this elegant ballerina were actually a 10 ft. tall giant clocking in at 9.4%! I'm in AZ and while I'd never move to the DC area, this brewery gives hope to thousands that are stuck out there.

Full disclosure: I added this beer to ba and I am a fan of the brewery. I do not work for aslin, nor am I compensated by them in any way.

Mind the Hop, Aslin's 9.4% citra dipa, is the base beer used. This is the hazy milkshake style of ipa. This is supposed to resemble a peach milkshake, complete with a hazy, almost milky look. It is supposed to be creamier and sweeter than the standard hazy ipa.

At the brewery, i couldn't really get much from the nose. But I can smell this beer across the room after opening a day-old crowler. The carbonation was intact, with foamy bubbles like an active tide by a rocky shore. This beer is so hazy it looks like a fruit smoothie with yogurt. It almost might be a candidate for some slight filtering. Hazy, almost milky look; creamy, slightly cloying.

I was worried that Aslin might have gone overboard on the peaches and vanilla. Fortunately, the peach and vanilla was used in moderation for the style and brought a great balance to the hops. The peaches hit you first and are more subtle. The peaches frolic with the hops, adding a more pulpy texture to them. The vanilla hits last and extends for a long finish, making the vanilla flavor more dominant and memorable.

I don't think you can session many of these, but an excellent, unorthodox, inspired concoction for a couple rounds for when traditional IPAs get tired. The peaches and vanilla don't taste artificial at all, very natural and organic tasting. A great alternative for people who don't like bitter bomb ipas - even at 9.4% the bitterness is overwhelmed by the juiciness and sweet.

For my personal taste, this might be my new favorite style and this is close to a perfect beer for me. I am looking forward to drinking this by the pool on a hot day. This would be a great brew for that, fruity, super refreshing. I can definitely see this being too sweet, rich, hearty and/ or cloying for some people.

This experiment was an indisputable home run. I drink your milkshake, I drink it up.

Draft at Churchkey in DC.

Super hazy yellow body with a quarter inch of soapy white collar. Aromas of dank Citra hops. While peach is subtle in the scent, it leaps out in the flavor profile! A huge burst of flavor. Perhaps a bit over the top.

Poured a copper orange body with minimal head and lace. The peach aspect comes out strong in the aroma but hints of vanilla and booze as well. Thicker, stockier, fuller body that has great peach sweetness with vanilla sweetness on the end and is well balanced and the booze is hidden; clean finish with almost no bitterness or hop forwardness and is very enjoyable.

16 oz can from a trade with @Spata - thanks! Into a Paulaner half pint stem glass.

Really amazing dark beige head that is super thick and persistent. Super coating lacing. Murky dark orange but not brown sludge. Smells of peach flesh (not ripe skin) and dank hops. Hits first with more peach and mango, then some tropical fruit like papaya, then finishes clean. Very little bitterness. A bit gritty on the mouthfeel from floaty fruit/yeast, but not nearly as bad as Veil. Really great beer, but nose is slightly better than the taste/feel.

My fourth & final thanks to Yulles for the four pack of Aslin. This 16 oz. can from late May also has “Fuck Your Couch” printed on the bottom of the can. Classy. Though I’ll admit it made me giggle. Guess I’m classy, too.

The pour is hands-down the ugliest beer I’ve ever seen; there seems to be more sediment & solids than liquid (so more accurately, this is probably about an 11 oz. can). But much like strippers, it’s the performance, not the looks, that count, so I’ll reserve judgment. The nose mimics the description: peach, vanilla, plus lactose.

Johann the Giant Peach needs a new category: this ‘milkshake’ bullshit is as close to an IPA as it is to rhubarb pie…I mean, I love boundary pushing, but to put the words “Double IPA” on the can should draw the regulatory attention of the FDA. Paint-thick with tons of vanilla, lactose, & some peach in the back seat. Bit of fruity tartness & low level of bitterness on the finish finally lets me know this has IPA somewhere in it’s ancestry. The cool creaminess is the high point. Half the can will do just fine.

My first ‘milkshake’. I’m unsure if this sub-sub-sub-genre isn’t for me, or if it’s just this one sitting beside me. Not a very good ‘beer’.
