Pour at Aslin, released earlier this week.

Not their best IIPA but that's a high bar. I'm getting loads of chinook in this one. Mouthfeel is incredible, creamy and smooth.

From a can picked up at the brewery yesterday and canned 3 days ago. Nice hazy dark orange color. Hard to distinguish much other than a general tropical nose, maybe a little dank -- too light for this much ABV. Some tropical fruit up front in the taste, but quickly washed away with bitter pineapple. Pithy bitterness on the back of the tongue that isn't working for me in this beer. May just be that the hop combo just isn't my style - seems like the Chinook isn't melding with the others.

Bottom line - Not horrible, but not worth the top dollar they are charging or the line wait. Some of their NE style IPAs are top-notch - not this one. Looks like everyone else reviewing loves this brew, but I have to call 'em like I drink 'em.

At the brewery.

(L) The color was murky orange. Off-white head with great lacing.
(A) Smell was a juice bomb. Primarily orange, grapefruit, and pineapple.
(T) Taste follows aroma. Also getting some dank, resiny pine.
(F) Medium bodied.

East coast juice bomb meets west coast bitter pine. Not as good as MoK in my opinion, but outstanding DIPA nonetheless.

Hop Soup!

Beer pours heavy and is extremely murky. Almost looks like a shandy. The smell is amazing though, especially to anyone who has homebrewed. Hops everywhere, piney, citrus deliciousness...until you taste it. Honestly it tastes like a batch of homebrew that you learned your mistakes from. All hop nothing else. I love hops but this so called double IPA lacks any other flavor but the hops used to create it. Such a shame considering the delightful hop smell should be a precursor for another delicious IPA. Skip this one...it's abhorrent and simple. Go for shape of hops to come from Nashaminy Creek, Jai Alai from Cigar City or the traditional Stone IPA instead of this limited production abortion and save money. I am all about supporting local breweries except when they don't care about what the end product is.

Another amazing Aslin DIPA. Sweeter than some others. Nice smooth mouthfeel and pretty color. Citrusy orange notes. Just a hint of bitterness on the end. Don’t pass this up!

16 oz. can dated 07/25/17

Pours cloudy hazy opaque dark gold with a dense creamy white foam head. Smells like musty pineapple, sweet bready caramelized crackery malts, mango, berry, apricot, peach, passionfruit, orange citrus, grapefruit, papaya, some peppery spice, with dank woody floral earthy herbal grassy resinous pine. Tastes pretty intense and concentrated with bursts of tart musty pineapple, mango, berries, apricot, peach, passionfruit, orange citrus, grapefruit, papaya, some bready caramelized crackery malts, peppery spice, with super earthy herbal dank bitter woodsy floral grassy resinous pine. Feels smooth and creamy, thick medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall a nice juicy double IPA.

On tap today at Aslin, comes in looking like apricot juice--fully opaque, but not a milkshake. Nice.

Smell and taste are loaded with mango, tangerine and peach. Decent bitterness in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel and medium-minus body makes for a delicious and superbly drinkable IIPA.

Appearance - Pours murky burnt orange color with a huge white head and tons of lacing around the glass.

Aroma - The Mosaic stands out well, nice tropical fruit aroma of pineapple and mango. Very light pine aroma coming through as well. Just a hint of alcohol peeking out as well.

Taste - Lots of mostly mango/pineapple flavors coming through. Very mild bitter finish not much at all. Mostly tropical fruit with a touch on vanilla.

Feel - Medium bodied well carbonated, slightly dry prickly finish. No sign of the alcohol.

Overall - A very well done DIPA other than the nose the alcohol is not detectable, the tropical flavors are very nice and work well with the touch of pine.

Pours a bright orange hazy color, with thick white lacy head. Nose has tons of pine, resin, & candied orange. Flavor is the same with more pine then citrus. Perfectly balanced. Huge mouthfeel. This is a great double IPA and different than anything Aslin has done to date.

Can Date: about three weeks ago
Palate Contaminants: other beer

Why is there no rating field for container design? This absolutely gets a 5/5, and I wish I could give it more. (I'm pretty sure there's a picture of me from about my middle school years that has the same "laser" background.)

The look is a murky, dirty orange. Good amount of fine white head. Decent lacing. It's setting expectations for me.

The first smell that hits me is citrus acidity. Moderate sweetness. And tons of freshly cut grass. There's also that powdered sugar-slash-marshmallow scent that sometimes shows up with hop-hyperloaded brews. (Can't yet place that hop varietal.) More orange as it warms.

Well, surprise, surprise. It's anise and bananas to start. Papaya. Slight bits of citrus (orange and white grapefruit), but not nearly as much as I expected. Good balance of sweet and savory, with very light bitterness far in the background. If this were a smoothie, it'd be one I'd repeatedly order. Delicious.

Moderate amount of carbonation that actually takes some effort to bring out. Medium-heavy weight. Aftertaste has freshly cut grass, and the bitterness shows up more. Alcohol is barely detectable.

Can from the brewery poured into a Teku glass

L - Nice and hazy orange
S - Lots of pineapple, grapefruit and other citrus flavors
T - Orange, pineapple and no taste of alcohol, a true juicebomb
F - Little carbonation and very easy to drink. DIPA tastes like a session beer.

Amazing first offering from Aslin cans and have become a believer.
