Bought from ABC Drinks Leuven in Feb 2012. Poured from the bottle into a Duvel tulip. Served cold, and allowed to warm up.

Appearance: golden, minimal carbonation, translucent lacing on top, and lots of yeast floating around (not a bad characteristic in my opinion). No head or retention of foam on top.

Smell/Aroma: sweet; crushed dates, reminds me a much darker Belgian (perhaps a double). Candied ginger as it warms.

Taste: At first, the beer straight from the fridge and poured into a rinsed out Duvel tulip fell very flat. It was remarkably sweet (it is a cookie beer after all); when allowed to warm up a bit I can taste more notes of cinnamon. I even paired it with a speculoos/speculaas (Belgian gingerbread cookies, aka Biscoff) cracker towards the end of my beer. Nutmeg and candy ginger.

Overall: While not a favorite, this beer is fun in that it's a cookie beer. I'm glad I stuck through the entire tasting, and saved this for a time when I went on a beer run nearby to pick up lots of new things. This will most certainly be sold in Belgian beer shops, but you'll never find it anywhere in a cafe. It's fun and creative, perhaps can even be enjoyed as a dessert beer. It's unique, and since it's Belgium and the craft beer scene hasn't exploded, I'm giving these guys props, but next time I'll stick to the some speculaas cookies instead. Btw, this beer pairs excellently with gingerbread, or perhaps speculaas crusted cheesecake?

Roch orange color. Vanilla, cinnamon and malty cookie aroma. Reminiscent of a pumpkin beer. Very adop syrupy sweet with vanilla and cinnamon and brown sugar.

Purchased a bottle from a random shop in Bruges, because the name appealed to the wife. Not terrible. Basically a cinnamon/brown-sugar strong ale. Murky brown pour, yeasty/bready/spicy aroma, taste of toasted grains, cinnamon, brown sugar, neutral booze. Thin body. Okay for a taster, but not something I'd want to have again.

This poured a cloudy brown with lots of chunky sediment. There was a thick bubbly head that clung to the glass. It seemed overly carbonated with swirling bits. The nose is a bit sweet with some clove and spices. Nothing reminding me of cookies though. The cookies came forward in the flavour, but seemed quite artificial. There was some cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg there as well. It actually reminded me of the pumpkin spice syrup you get at your local Starbucks. The sweetness stuck around for quite a while. A bit of a strange beer.

33CL bottle at home. I found this in a store and thought: I like the cookie so maybe this beer is awesome. That was a mistake. The beer does look average, smells average, and while the taste wasn’t that bad, the after taste was and the worst part it doesn’t taste like the cookie in my opinion

Look - Cloudy orange-brown w/ lots of chunky sentiment and thin, light tan head.

Smell - Sweet aroma w/ a little alcohol lurking in the back.

Taste - Sweet, smooth caramel and strong cinnamon flavor that reminds me of the Speculoos cookie it mimics, but not quite the same.

Feel - Smooth but thin feel w/ strong carbonation.

Overall -- Good novelty beer. Not as tasty as the cookie and not a beer I could drink more than one/sitting, but if you like Speculoos Cookies this is definitely worth a try.

Found an old review, sorry for being so messy though:

I can't find out if this beer is made with real speculoos biscuits; because that's what it is, crushed down creamy speculoos biscuits; huge strong sweetness, along with the warm alcohol; big caramel sweetness, chocolatey, heavily spiced (tons of cocoa, cinnamon, some mild vanilla, also nutmeg, with some decent ginger and pepper); the malts are mostly biscuity (duh); low fruitiness, maybe some dark fruit, low acidic (maybered apple rind); despite the sweetness, there is a bitterness in the end, part from the mild hoppiness, part from the coffee notes (or really dark chocolate);
An interesting beer, especially for those with a (very) sweet-tooth; really enjoyable as an after-dinner dessert, or maybe in a snowy evening

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2013. Acquired some time ago from a webshop, and stored in my garage. The label describes it as strong speculoos beer - so presumably flavoured in the manner of the famous Belgian biscuit. Unusual...

Poured into a Delirium chalice. Bottle conditioned. A hazy golden-amber hue with a ton of chunky sediment and good carbonation. Yields a smallish head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before settling as a patchy surface layer. Aroma of spice and sugar; strong hints of cinnamon and clove, mild banana, a twinge of bubblegum, fruity yeast esters and faint stewed leaves. A sweetness lurks in the background but it has a harshness that suggests artificial additives. Unbalanced.

Tastes of sweet spiciness with a dry finish. Notes of cinnamon, clove, artificial sweetner, nutmeg, mild banana, bubblegum, fruity yeast esters and faint stewed leaves. The sweetness is persistent and rather cloying, in addition to being somewhat acrid. Despite the taste it seems well-attenuated. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with decent carbonation but an insubstantial body. Somewhat astringent, followed by an aftertaste of spice, harsh sweetness, cardboard and earthy yeast.

Meh - this is just an oddball brew. Looks OK, but the aroma and flavour are rather intense and lop-sided. Too much spice and sweetness; not enough of a malty foundation. Body is mediocre. The biggest flaw with this is the artificial sweetner, as it really doesn't taste nice. Take that away, enhance the malt backbone and it would be much improved. Intriguing but not really worth seeking out.

A- Amber/Brown with a thick white head

S- Cinnamon and spices

T- It tastes like cinnamon cookies. No joke. I know a lot of beers are advertised as having certain flavors but this beer means it. It tastes like a snickerdoodle and if it were available in the New England area I would stock up with it every Christmas because it is the perfect holiday brew.

F-Warm and slightly carbonated

O-Surprised to see such a low score as I loved it. Then again I have never been accused of having the manliest taste in beer and the sweetness might throw some people off.
