A mediocre pale ale, check out its dark counterpart ''pelfort brune''. A lot better

500ml can purchased at a Monoprix in Paris. Expectations are low given Heinken owns the brand. Brief notes below:

A: Standard 4-5cm wide white cap. Clear copper body. Translucent; transparent. No yeast can be seen within; it's a clean appearance.

Sm: Stale pilsner malt. A blip of a metallic off-note. Generic floral hop character. Sweet bread.

Leans on the sweeter side. Hop profile is reticent and anything but vivid.

Aromatic intensity is average.

No yeast character or booze is detectable.

T: Run-of-the-mill floral hop notes. Pale malts. It tastes more like a mediocre English pale ale than a blonde. I detect no yeast character or booze. Not balanced, but unbalanced. There's no complexity, nuance, or subtlety here at all. Very plain. And a bit artificial.

Average flavour duration and intensity. Shallow.

Mf: Smooth, wet, overcarbonated, slightly refreshing if a bit too thick, and too hefty & weighty on the palate for its relative lack of flavour.

O: Drinkable forgettable swill. Sometimes Heineken has rare surprises in terms of budget or supermarket beers in different countries; this is not amongst them. Typical Euro macro schlock.

Classic that the other industrial beers. I tried to find some points , but it was difficult. To be served very cold is a good solution to enjoy it.

A - Pale gold as you would expect.
S - Caramel and sweet bakery roles dominate the smells.
T - Good malt flavour up front with tiny almost undetectable vanilla notes. Good level of bitterness in the follow through from some faint citrus floral tasting hops.
MF - Thin and note very interesting.
O - Only ever had this in France on Tap on really hop sticky days (You know the type when humidity is through the roof). Pretty drinkable and goes down smoothly. However there isn't anything special about it so outside of France and extreme heat and humidity I would not drink it.
