Poured from a 500 ML into a pint glass. Nice tawny golden colour with mild head and som lacing. Smell is mild hops and malts but not too much else. Taste is slightly bitter, malty, some peppery taste. Mouth feel is somewhat fizzy and light to medium bodied.
Drinakabilty is above average; I could have some more but possibly would levitate more to Marston's IPA. Cheers.

A pleasure to finally try this Burton classic, pours a rich golden with a large two finger white head settling into a creamy mass leaving a ring of lace behind.Whoo this is brewed in oak casks and it shows in the aroma very woody with a touch of sulpher, flavors are very dry firm biscuity malt backbone followed by just a touch of herbal hop my guess fuggles? Now this is a sessionable ale dry enough to make the mouth want more not earth shattering but glad I gotta a chance to try it for sure.

Appearance Clear, light-orange body with a big, foaming head that went down rather quickly.
Smell Nice, easy floral and citrus hops. A bit of mixed fruit juice comes out as well.
Taste Buttery and well-mixed best describes this pale ale. The malt balance comes on at the taste. The hops and orange from the nose show up as well, along with a refreshing, slightly lemon tang.
Mouthfeel Rich and creamy, this ale is light to medium in the body and very smooth.
Drinkability This one is well put together and would make a terrific session beer.

Bottle conditioned, so a careful pour.
Pretty dark amber color, no head.
Caramel aroma, some sweet fruit, floral hops.
Taste follows the nose. Mostly caramel, faint cherry, late mild hop bitterness.
Light-bodied, easy drinking.

16.9 ounce bottle, best before sometime in 2007 if I read the hieroglyphics correctly. Nice amber hue, white head that hangs on pretty strong. Earthy (hop), tart apple-caramel (malt) and slightly minerally (that'd be the water, squire) aroma - well balanced on the nose.
I really enjoy beers such as this one. Starts out with a minerally (carbonate and sulfate if my training as a water engineer tells me anything) tint over a caramelly, sligtly honeylike malty sweetness balanced with a healthy earthy Golding/Fuggle hoppiness, then dries and bitters out towards the end. In the process it gently hits just about every tastebud your mouth has except for the ones turned on by capsaicin. Buttery, creamy mouthfeel (this brew must be hell on wheels on cask).
I could happily spend a rainy day with a good book next to a fire and pop pint after pint of this. Not a huge beer in any respect; just a very flavorful session brew. Me likey.

SLGA had these 500ml Bottle, rated at 5% ABV.
Starters, on the bottle said "limited edition England V's Austrailia 2009" neat bottle. onto the review!
i liked the look of it, i emptied all 500ml into my big beer glass. clear amber in color, more leaning to yellow-orange than red-orange. foamy white head that looked quite nice, but didn't last. lacing was really good, a solid stick to the glass and plenty of it.
smell was of caramel and sweet malts. winter's been dragging on here, so i smelled spring florals as well. wish it would be a bit more of a defining smell.
taste is pretty good, like the smell, it's not that powerful tasting, but what's there is pleasant. caramel hit me first, then fruity appricot with a grainy finish.
feel is light, a bit thin with low carbonation. a tad bitter.
it's easy going down, but it just lacks character.

Nice to try this old world classic on tap @ Drop off Laundry in NYC, Pours dark orangy amber, semi cloudy, with a long lasting light tan head, and leaving pleanty of lacing. Mildly malty nose, this is a very smooth in the mouth, pleasant, tasty, and easy drinking Brit. all the way ale. Low alcohol, balanced, a fine sessioner. If you see it on tap its well worth a try.

Had on tap. Pours clear, copper in color with one third inch head. Taste is pale English malt, caramel, drak bread and earth. Medium light bodied, moderate carbonation, and sweet. Makes for a really good English bitter.

Finally managed to track this brew down at a downtown T.O. LCBO - completely sold out in KW...
Poured into a nonic, as is proper. Amber hue, aggressive visible carbonation, which affected the longevity of the head. Patchy, foamy lacing does pepper the sides of the glass. Looks like an EPA.
Nose is tea, biscuits, hops, malts, caramel and a slight chemical something-er-other.
Tastes like a typical English pub beer. Goes down very smooth. Similar to Fuller's London Pride, but with more of a pronounced tea and herbal hop character. Finishes slightly dry and tart, with a touch of lemon biscuit.
Medium bodied, slightly under-carbonated. Typical for the style.
An above-average EPA, certainly one to knock back in a pub. Nose isn't fantastic, but the taste is wonderfully smooth.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2011 and an ABV of 5%.
Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass - a nice deep amber colour with good carbonation. Thick creamy head that remains for several minutes before subsiding. Malty aroma and something like alcohol (diacetyl?); not much by way of hops. Notes of caramel and toffee.
Taste is somewhat malty with mild bitterness. No real hop flavours to be noted. Mouthfeel is smooth and a bit oily - feels like the tongue is coated with something slippery. Vaguely unpleasant aftertaste.
An OK ale, but rather bland. I won't be drinking this on a regular basis.

Appearance: Clear, light brown colour. Head disappers very quickly
Aroma: Stale and eggy.
Taste: One dimensional, little interest and quite hoppy
Mouthfeel: Bitter aftertaste, perhaps over carbonated
Drinkability: Uninspiring, quite a light drink

Pours a copper colour with a creamy head and lots of foam all the way down the glass. Not much nose to it. The taste was a moderate hop presence equally balanced with some sweet malts. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel (cask ales are great aren't they?).
All in all, not a half bad pint. You can probably do a little more exciting, but if you're in the mood for just a nice pint (or two or three) than this is a good beer.

This poured to a bright gold color with a great-looking head. The head lasted very well for a bottled-poured beer, too.
I don't know why, but this one seems to smell like a lager. Actually, it smells like a cheap and bad lager. The taste is pale but pungent. Again, I'm struck with cheap lager flavor, although that may just be coming in through my nose.
I had to push myself along a bit in order to finish the whole bottle.

This beer pours a clear medium amber hue, with lots of creamy, puffy white head, which leaves a thick wall of lace around the glass. It smells of mild bready malt, and grassy hops. The taste is soft, dry bready malt, a little earthy honey, and decently bitter grassy, weedy hops. The carbonation is moderate , the body fairly full and smooth, and the finish is dry and floral.
A nicely drinkable brew, it has 'sessionable' plastered all over it.

Served in a pint glass. Dark amber with a thin head that dissapears fast while leaving little to none lacing.
The smell is earthy biscuits, caramel and red apple. The aroma is soft at the begining so the beer has to warm to get it right. I also find this biscuitty character in other ales from Marstons.
Taste is slightly roasted malts and discreet hops (Fuggles and Golding), which keep working along the whole sip. Not fruity or sweet, just a hint. Even a bit salty.
Mouthfeel is light, smooth and slightly crisp. It finishes dry long, with hops going up in the end. The bottle brought some lively carbonation which dissipated fast.
I didn´t notice this could be interesting in previous tastings. Not near a London Pride but still coming on it´s own. tiA bit watery and bland, like other ales from Marston´s, but honest and surely true to the style. Those waters at Burton on Trent, English hops and malts, are very well balanced and i could have this again.

Somewhat below the 1845 tried the day before. Malty and nicely hopped and bitter vegetable cabbage-like finish. White head on golden colour. Grainy, Mid-sip woody, and roasty. Apple carmel and lemon. Mild alcohol a plus. Nice creamy pale. Better at room temperature.

Apple aroma, disappeared very quickly. Clear golden color with a frothy off-white head and very fine bubbles coming up through the glass. Some lace. Initial salty, apple/fruit flavor followed by a mellow spicy hop flavor and slight bitterness. Aftertaste a nice blend of fruit, spicy hops, bitterness. Medium/light carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel. Subtle yet complex.
