Purchased at the local branch of the Tesco supermarket, this is a Tesco-branded brew and in fact the label doesn’t specify the brewery. Coming in a 500ml clear(!) glass bottle, BB 31/07/2014, served lightly chilled in a straight imperial pint glass.

A: pours a light golden colour with good clarity and moderate carbonation, topped with a very thin layer of fast-dissipating off-white foam.
S: besides the slightly eggy odour upfront, the aroma is like a more fruity lager beer actually, the hops come with some lemony and herbal notes as of German varieties, but also edged with lightly earthy and more zesty-citrussy notes as of English hops, while the maltiness is at best light-bodied, with a medium level of sweetness, not complex or rich in any sense. Given a swirl, the smell is added with slightly more candy-ish notes and sweet Saaz aroma.
T: moderately carbonated, the flavour is initially light-bodied pale-malty with limited fruit esters and a intriguingly spicy & savoury note, while a mild dosage of Goldings and Saaz like hoppiness renders itself just gently at the back of the palate. The aftertaste shows a bit more starchy savoury-sweetness and a slightly dry mouthfeel, without much bitterness to linger but I suppose this is meant to be like so.
M&O: softly carbonated and quite refreshing, against a semi-dry mouthfeel and a light-medium bodied as far as 4.5%abv. is concerned; this is actually not too bad, given the fact that the other sister products on this brand for Tesco (the “Simply” series) are not outstanding and also clear-bottle-packaging doesn’t do it any favours. Decently made and refreshingly drinkable.

Clear 50cl bottle: BBD of 31 July 2014, poured into a UK pint sleeve on 23 Aug 2013.

As the name suggests, this is a golden coloured brew; it is also bright and clean looking with a full but thinning head of white bubbles.

The nose was light malts with a slight citrus note.

The taste followed the aroma to the letter, no great depth of flavour but a pleasant enough blend that isn't going to 'blow your socks off' or test your taste buds.

Refreshing and easy to drink: thirst quenching and fine for a fairly cheap supermarket brew.
