As others have noted as well, the thing that sets Bacco's apart is their focus on specialty, hard-to-find, and local beers, as well as the friendly and knowledgable staff. These guys really know their stuff and they like to share their knowledge. Following them on Twitter/Instagram (@baccoswineandcheese) keeps me in the know on the cool new stuff in stock, as well as the weekly beer tastings. Love this place!

Great place with helpful knowledgable staff. They always have something special in stock. Following them on instagram s the best way to see new fun brews in house @baccoswineandcheese. Also, they pay close attention to freshness, so you'll never get an old IPA (gross). 5 stars!

This is an awesome little shop whose quality more than makes up for its size. The staff is helpful and passionate about what they're selling, which makes it easy to justify the downtown-Boston markup. The beer section isn't huge, but thoughtfully curated and quite diverse; there's a focus on local craft beer but a bunch of imports and ciders as well. In the gourmet food department, Bacco's has a killer cheese selection right up there with Formaggio's and some of the better shops in the city. Bonus points for an active Instagram/Twitter presence, which I've found very helpful in keeping on top of new releases.

Great shop with impressive domestic and import craft selection for the size. There are not too many shops in this area with a focus on craft but what really sets this shop apart is the staff. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and professional.

Bacco's Wine & Cheese, first based on proximity to work, but really now on quality has become my go-to store in Boston. Sure, they have amazing cheese and wine...but their craft beer selection continues to blow my mind. They have nothing on their shelves you wouldn't want to have in your fridge or cellar. Great knowledge of Belgians, sours, RIS, etc... they bring in quality. This should be on everyone's tour-de-boston beer trip.
