Deepest black color with practically no head.
Aroma with lots of cinnamon, vanilla, some milk powder, coconut and caramels.
Flavor with notes of cocoa, some roasted coffee beans, vanilla, cinnamon, crème brulèe and burnt coconut. Dry aftertaste with a roasted and coconut finish.
Velvety oily medium body with appropriate carbonation.
Flavorful Imperial Stout with lots of cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa notes.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in 3/2016. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, cream, smoke, char, herbal, pine, and roast/char earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, lactose/spices, and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, cream, smoke, char, herbal, pine, and roast/char earthiness. Moderate herbal/pine and roast/char bitterness, and light cinnamon spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, cream, smoke, char, herbal, pine, and roast/char earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, lactose/spices, and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero astringent hop/roast flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from hop/roast bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent spiced imperial stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, lactose/spices, and moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. This had a nice amount of creme brulee qualities, but feels more like a Russian imperial stout on roast/bitterness. Nice cinnamon presence that is not overdone. A very enjoyable offering.

750 ml bottle, no bottled on date, but this was just released so I know it is fresh. My fourth imperial stout variant from Hubbard's Cave. Bottle lists a 9.70% abv. "Imperial Stout with cocoa nibs, cinnamon, vanilla beans, & lactose".

Poured into a Big Eddy snifter.

A - Ridiculously dark thick inky pour. Less than a finger of dark dark chocolate mocha colored head that falls to a ring. Some small sticky scattered lacing on the glass.

S - Aroma is milky, creamy, chocolatey. Dark, bitter, roasty, ashy.

T - Taste comes off very dark, bitter, roasty, burnt, charred. Lots of milk chocolate and cream flavor, cinnamon is very light at best, and I'm not really pulling much distinction in the way of vanilla beans and lactose, but doubtless they contribute to the beer's creaminess. Bit of cola-esque spicing. Cinnamon is lacking.

M - Smooth, creamy feel. Good carbonation, medium-full, but easy-drinking for the modest abv.

Overall, a decent imperial stout, but I honestly don't get much distinction between this one and some of the other variants. Chocolate and cinnamon are no more pronounced than on any of the other's. Disappointing in that aspect. Looking forward to more unique variants of this from Hubbard's Cave.
