Poured a thin hazy gold with a ton of white foam on the head. Smell is full of citrus, especially orange and lemon, some bitter hops, plus some subtle melon, pine and guava. Taste is maltier, add a touch of honey, but still has plenty of fruit and from the hops, bitterness. Body is a little thin but creamy, beer feels like it starts giving out on you halfway down the glass onward. Not my favorite in the series, but still solid work.

I struck out in an attempt to find some NEIPAs in my area to familiarize myself with the style. But the owner of the local good beer store recommended the new IIPA from Hubbard's Cave -- an off-shoot label of new local small brewery Une Année. He even went so far to tell me it was "close" to a NEIPA... not so sure, but here goes.

The label reports: Brewed 05/02/17. Bottled 05/25/17. Fresh by 07/06/17. Only 2 month shelf life, huh? At $10 a bottle, I'm not going to lay one down to find out.

Poured into my Libby tulip glass.

L -- Murky peach color with a sudsy, rather thin, white head that falls quickly.

S -- Strong pine resin up front with floral and citrus fruit characters (even as peach-like as the color) back. Even some herbal earthiness comes through.

T -- Strong piny, resinous hop characters up front with that same citrus fruit character back. There's a definite solvent-like alcohol character present in the finish and aftertaste, along with some of the herbal hop character and light bitterness. Citrus and resinous characters linger thru the aftertaste. Any malt character is completely masked by the dominant hop characters and mildly solvent hotness from alcohol.

F -- Mouthfeel is crisp and mildly astringent from the hops with a light-medium body.

O -- My overall impression of this beer, even for an IIPA, is not terribly favorable. The harsh, near astringent hop flavors (not bitterness, but that gets a little fatiguing on the palate, too) and alcohol hotness don't make this very friendly to my palate. I'm sure it's a winner to the current crop of craft beer drinkers, but I'll be the first to cast a balancing vote from the old guard and say this one is a little over the top.

On tap at Une Année. Hazy orange. Smells of orange, some garlic, a bit of butter, some alcohol and a little sweetness. Tastes of butter. Orange citrus. Garlic bite. Buttery finish. Pretty sweet. Heavy. Gross butter.

16 oz can poured into a Pilsner glass.

Appearance
Hazed-out cloudy blonde. Short white head.

Nose
Mango, peach, papaya, passion fruit, dank, pine, honey, and caramel cream. Huge aroma.

Taste
Mango chunks, papaya juice, and grapefruit zest. Lighter notes of peach and passion fruit. Pine resin and a big dankness. Light maltiness of honey and caramel. Finishes fairly dry with grapefruit zest and pine needle.

Mouthfeel
Medium-plus bodied, silky, smooth, oily, juicy, and off-dry with a medium-light bitterness.

Overall
Big aroma and flavor. Everything about this says New England but then you're tricked with a drier body and slightly more bitterness than the usual. I like it!

Canned 8/1/18; drank 8/14/18 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque orange appearance.

A violent pour yielded a huge off-white head; frothy lace.

Coriander & orange citrus notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Dirt, coriander, dry wheat & faint orange citrus flavors up front; booze heat on the finish.

Considering the hops, I don't know what happened here; a complete miss.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 750 ml bottle on January 8, 2018. Fresh by 03.24.18. Brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops. Full of juicy, fruity hop flavors. Smooth finish. Highly recommended.

Bottled January 24, 2018. Had on February 16, 2018. Very juice like in appearance, cloudy dark orange with an almost brownish tint, quickly dissipating head with minimal creamy lacing. Smell is grainy and mildly hoppy with slight citrusy notes. Taste is big juicy hops. dank and slightly bitter with a creamy mouth feel. Yet another winner in their series.
