Good beer! I am enjoying it on a Friday afternoon, after work. I love the colors and design of the can. A good one from Double Nickel in NJ! Not the exact color or hop/juice bomb I have come to expect from a NE IPA, but a good beer nonetheless. Low haze and darker than standard NE IPA.

16 oz can poured into a Pilsner glass.

Medium haze. Golden. 1+ finger of loose white head.

Peach rings, Riesling, pineapple, and Aspirin.

Peach rings, Riesling, and white gummy bears. Slight pineapple and a hint of crushed SweeTarts.

Light bodied, crisp, and smooth with only a touch of bitterness.

There's really not much flavor....

Double Nickel Brewing Company "Archipelago"
16 fl. oz. can, coded "#ISLANDTIME"
$4.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: Well the label is certainly tropical with colors of coral pink, sea foam green, lemon yellow, and pink, blue, and purple - I wonder if this is a tropical "NE STYLE IPA"? Ahhh, I also see that it contains lactose. Let's get to it... it's a very hazy amber in color with golden highlights beneath a finger-thick head of white foam. The aroma expresses peach, papaya, mango, and apple. Green pepper as well? I thinks so, just a hint. On to the flavor... ahhh, much fuller than the aroma lets on. The flavors remains the same, but fuller and perhaps a little more complex... citrus pith, orange, guava, lime... and cherry? Yes. Interesting. The malt is a little dull though, but mildly sweetish and nicely balanced by a stiff bitterness. There's a slight acidity to it but I wonder if that's just coming from the yeast that's left behind. It finishes dry with a bit of bitterness and some earthiness lingering. The head has dropped by now but it's maintained a very thin but solid surface covering, and the initial lacing was quite nice. Following that however there's not much. In the mouth it's medium to medium-light in body and gently effervescent and bristling. Overall it's interesting with some nice, unusual flavors but it doesn't pull together well and seems slightly off-kilter. Not their best NE IPA but still a noble effort.
