Drinking the 2016, post-pilot version. The brown malts and coffee blend wonderfully for a fantastic caramel, chocolate, and roasted bean flavor. The only thing I'd change is to dial back the sweetness and dry it out. And this is just personal preference, but I wish this was a 4.5% brew. I'd be happy to toss back several.

Look: Beautiful burgundy liquid sits below a light head. Not very much lace.

Smell: A slight coffee aroma is emitted by this lovely brew.

Taste: Tastes of coffee and chocolate are mixed throughout the taste.

Feel: Not the best mouth feel, albeit not terrible. Mediocre in this regard.

Overall: Pretty darn good brew here. It has some good flavor and looks great. Glad I got to try it.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

12 oz bottle, best by 02/08/17. Pours clear ruby amber with a big fluffy light tan head that retains well and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is sweet fudgy roast coffee with some ash.

The flavor is sweet acidic nutty chocolate malt with some roast coffee and a medium bitter roast finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice coffee beer but a little too acidic.

Pours clear, dark brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is dark roast coffee and toasted malt. Medium bodied, high carbonation and roasty. Makes for an above average coffee beer and a nice seasonal offering....Could certainly get lost in a daydream and see myself sipping this in the fall in Alaska. A nice and clean sipper for anyone who enjoys coffee.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a deep brownish amber with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of light tan head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A roasty and fairly sweet malt driven aroma with a scent of coffee beans, chocolate, and biscuit. Upfront scent of coffee beans with toasted malt hints of chocolate, biscuit, toast, caramel, grains, and nuts with some yeast. Sweet hints of vanilla, cream, and brown sugar. Subtle hints of earthy hops. A solid roasty aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty and somewhat sweet malt forward taste with notes of coffee beans, chocolate, and biscuit. Upfront taste of coffee beans. Malt notes of biscuit, chocolate, toast, grains, caramel, and nuts along with yeast. Some sweet notes of vanilla, brown sugar, and cream.. Light earthy hop bitterness towards the finish. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Smooth with a fairly drying finish.

Overall: A very good Coffee Brown ale. Good upfront coffee notes with the malty Brown ale notes.

Had on tap at cafe amsterdam.

Pours a cloudy brown with good white colored head. Leaves decent lace. Smell is immeadiately coffee cream with some dark malt. Taste follows coffee up front, coffee with cream not black coffee. Roasty toasty malt presence through the middle, and a slight (very) hop finish. Mouthfeel is pretty good but on the thin side. Drinkability is just like a session ale, the 6.7 abv is nowhere to be found. I would have guessed about 5 or 6 at the most. Defenitely a good beer, and one I think alaskan should put in the bottle or bomber. better than alot of their flagships. great beer.

Bought a six pack of Heritage Brown at the local Meijer. It poured clear deep rich amber. There was no head or lace. The scent had whiffs of coffee and cake. The taste is sweeter in taste with good coffee touch. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's decent and worth a try.

Pours an effervescent caramel with a thumb of tan head. Below average head retntion & average lacing

S: Coffee, toastyness, & mocha

T: Folllows the nose, some woody hops as well, some vanilla slips in up front. Dryness, hazelnut & mocha, plus toastyness as this warms. Finishes toasty, sweet & a little dry

MF: Medium bod, slight carbonation

Drinks easy, a nice offering , nothing earth shattering though

Pours a clear medium colored brown with a thick and fluffy light khaki head.

Nose is light "green coffee bean" character - not really any assertive coffee tones one might expect. Very light coffee, at best.

Mouth feel is medium full with nice carbonation and excellent balance.

Flavor profile is nice. Very clean, fresh and bright with sweet light coffee, light roasted grain and light brown sugar tones. Light bitter. Not particularly complex but flavorful and inviting. This is well made with a sweetish light coffee lasting finish.

Thankful to have tried this in a bottle from Country Fresh in Beechmont in a snifter.
This fine brown pours a clear medium mahogany with a nice head of off white foam that
settles to a thick ring, thin pool, and subtle lacing. Nose of coffee, sweet chocolate, and light
brown sugars. Flavors for a brown ale are excellent for the style. Coffee and sweet chocoalte
malts collide together with a touch of herbal hops on the rear and a sweet light brown sugar
taste. Excellent mouth feel for the style, smooth, good carbonation keeping it lightly crisp, and a
nice herbal hop kick that is seared in the rear making for a nice medium mouth feel and overall
excellent experience.

Overall, the best brown ale I have ever tried to date. PERIOD. Excellence in brewing.

Thanks to Alaskan Brewing for bringing these fine beverages to our heat drenched state....
an absolute treasure!
