I got a bottle of Alaskan Brewing's Kicker last week for $1.69 at The Lager Mill. A session IPA sounds good today, so lets see how this one goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a imperial pint glass.

A- The label looks nice, it's got a nice design and it's a little eye catching. It poured a fairly clear orange amber color that doesn't change when held to the light with a little over a fingers worth of bubbly off white head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left a little bit of spotty lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking beer, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with the a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the hops being the first to show up and they impart a mixture of green hops and slightly soapy hops with the citrus and tropical fruit aromas seeming to stick out the most and it's followed by a slight bit of doughy yeast that goes into the malts which impart a grainy, pale malt and cracker malt like aroma. This is beer has a nice aroma, but I could go without the soapy hop aspect.

T- The taste seems to be pretty similar to the aroma and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the hops being the first to show up, this time no single aspect sticks out the most ans they imparts the same aspects that they did in the aroma, buy they are a good amount lighter, especially on the fruity aspects. Up next comes a slightly bit of that doughy yeast that's followed by the malts which imparts the same aspects, but they show up a little more with more of those crackery malt flavors coming through. On the finish there's a lighter amount of medium bitterness with a little bit of fruity hop flavor and a good amount of grainy and cracker malts showing up in the aftertaste. This is a decent tasting beer, but I wish the hops showed up more, the malts seemed to show up more when it came to the taste.

M- Smooth, crisp, clean, dry on the finish, light bodied with a slightly higher amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is nice and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a decent beer and it was pretty close to be an average example of the style, it was pretty much too balanced and I wanted more of those hop flavors to come through, but the malts did impart some nice flavors. This beer had ok drinkability, one would be my limit, I would start to get bored with it after that. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance, it's a pretty nice looking beer. What I like the least about this beer is the taste, it was just too balanced for the style. I don't think I would buy this beer again and I can't say I would recommend it. All in all I this beer was just decent and with somr work on the hop profile I think it could be better. It's not a favorite Alaskan beer and it's right around average for the style. Better luck next time guys, this one could use a little bit of work.

I guess this is their session ipa? Pours a golden color with astute clarity. 2/3" white head. Aroma had some proprietary hops in it in a small way discernable. Simcoe and citra maybe? Or Amarillo? Can't tell for sure, but it wafts in those directions.

Taste, hey a good light body, mild golden promise and/or toasted pale malt barely there body with middle of the road bitterness and a light citrus flavor component from the hops. I think it settles into a good, second tier kind of setting for session ipas. I like its relative low cost and easy availability. Its a beer for crushing, not Chicago pouring. The mouth feel is good, while some may say thin or watery, that's the joke gif all over this, its a fucking 4.5% session ipa you clowns, that is like bitching that an ipa is too hoppy or not balanced.

Good head leaves prodigious lacing over orange copper body.

Flavor is surprisingly full. If the label didn't tell it, ida thunk this had higher abv. Malt biscuits and light citrus flavors. Fluffy textures overall.

Pours an orange gold with a white head. Flattens quickly. Not unfiltered looking but not totally clear. Smell is mostly tropical hops leaning on grapefruit and apple. Taste is not bad but not good either. The palet doesn't delight. Starts hop fruity and crashes into stale cracker. Mouth feel starts with a prickly carbonation, flattens and becomes a little soapy. I can forget this one.

I'm a little under impressed here. Really not much flavor at all, even for a session beer. The hops are really quite subdued. Are the flavor bad, no they are not it is just quite aqueous. Decent looking enough. Nice color and white white head
I've been a little hard so far and there are a couple of decent features. The aroma has an enjoyable hop presence. There is a mildly toasty character to the taste and the carbonation is prickly. The fully amped carbonation does prevent what would otherwise be an easy slammer.

Pours a clear gold color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of citrus hops, piney hops, sweet malt, and an earthiness. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of citrus hops, piney hops, sweet malt, pale malt, and an earthiness. Overall, good appearance, light body, low bitterness, and basically a Pale Ale.

Had on tap. Pours clear, gold in color with minimal head. Taste is apricot and light orange. Slightly bitter, juicy, with light body and moderate carbonation. Makes for a New England style sessionable ipa. Could drink this all day.

Got this from Vintage Estate about a month ago. Pint glass poured.

Surprisingly dark for a session IPA more orange brown deep hue with a 1/4 inch of head that fades to a nice ring. Good hop bitterness in the nose almost full bodied IPA aroma's of bitter pine and citrus. Taste is more bland really with a shine of some hop bitterness but approachable hop taste. Body is milder than nose implies very watery and light.

Overall to me another forgettable session IPA. Next onto the regular IPA

Found this at Total Wine in Roseville, CA.

A- clear copper color, thin to medium head, looks nice
S- citrus hops
T- citrus hops
M- medium bodied
D- I thought it was pretty good. It was a good session IPA. I could definitely drink a bunch of them. Not the best one I have had but definitely not the worst.
