Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Alaskan IPA is honey gold in color with a fruity, citrus aroma. An enticing blend of hops and our dry hopping process, in which hops are added directly to tanks during fermentation, give this brew a very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing hop finish.

Piney, resinous, nothing bad about it but lacking much interesting flavor.

Copper with a slight haze, a little swirling carbonation and a finger of yellowish head.

Smells of peaches with a hint of tea and dankness.

The taste is of peach tea, caramel, a hint of dankness and a slight but lingering dull bitterness.

Medium body, with moderate carbonation.

Got this in Redding where I am drinking it Sept 21st 2018.

Nice safe IPA, if a little understated. Nice slightly hazy color with some fluffy head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of some fruity and floral hops but a little more faintly than I’m used to. Tastes of nice citrus zest hops and floral hops, caramel, biscuit and malt. Not very much bitterness. Mild mouthfeel with some nice carbonation. A solid IPA but just not as strong as the many other contenders in this category.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, "best by" date "110218".

APPEARANCE: pours a slightly hazy, copper color with one-finger, off-white head that slowly dissipated until a thin, unbroken layer of small bubbles remained, there is heavy lacing on the glass, slightly higher that average carbonation.

SMELL: brown sugar, bread and pineapple.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet then pineapple citrus and bread, the taste is somewhat understated and not overpowering at all.

PALATE: medium body and higher than average carbonation.

OVERALL: as IPA's go this is a mild one, I would consider this a gateway IPA, it would be an excellent choice for someone trying IPA for the first time, it's definitely a tropical/citrus type IPA and I enjoyed having it.

Exceptional. Im having it draft in Junuea Alaska. Great tasting IPA. No bitterness, tropical flavors and nose. Definetly pineapple. A delight.

Pour = pretty orange/amber with delicate lace.
Aromas = citrus and yeast.
Flavors = orange, light malt, light yeast, decent but one-noted hoppy bitterness.
Pleasant to drink but wouldn't make my top 10 IPA list.

Golden color and clear. Modest head which leaves many initial spots, fewer as the drink is finished.

Classic American IPA aroma and flavor. Think souped up APA. The malt is mostly pale, soft and not sweet. The hop is neutrally bitter without any complexity. This is a good IPA without any pretensions.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. It's a fairly clear, golden color, with a hint of an orange hue. Ample, light head which lingers. This is a refined, easy-to-drink IPA. Clean-tasting and balanced. It has the right amount of hop bitterness, without overpowering. There is a good barley-malt flavor which is not over-roasted. Since it's on the smooth side, I wouldn't be surprised if some IPA aficionados considered it slightly bland, but I always enjoy it. Overall, it's a classic Western IPA that's smoother than most.

This brew is a wonderfully clear, golden color with a huge, white, rocky head. The aroma is classic American IPA...full of fresh, juicy hops, with just a little pine underneath. Slightly dry, with a little malt and lots of bitterness. Full in body and wonderfully drinkable. Well made and not in-your-face. Classic.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a glass.

Look - Cloudy bronze with a short dense tan head that stayed for a long time. Lots of visible carbonation streams.

Smell - Light floral and pine notes with a decent amount of malt sweetness on the back end.

Taste - Immediate pine on the tongue that dwindles into a vague citrusy flavor. Malty aftertaste lingers. Very balanced and enjoyable.

Feel - Medium body and intense carbonation with many small bubbles. Keeps the hoppiness from getting too extreme.

Overall - A perfectly fine IPA that doesn't do anything original or exciting, but it shows restraint and balance, something that a lot of IPAs don't.
