BEER INFO

Brewed by:
Alaskan Brewing Co.
Alaska, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Alaskan IPA is honey gold in color with a fruity, citrus aroma. An enticing blend of hops and our dry hopping process, in which hops are added directly to tanks during fermentation, give this brew a very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing hop finish.

One of the best year round supermarket-available IPAs around - prefer to Lagunitas and SN Torpedo

This beer pours a darker amber color with a white soapy finger or so of head. There is some lacing left on the glass. Tis is an above average beer for the style, but not exceptional.

Clear appearance. A bit fruity with subdued hops. A so-so IPA with a catchy name.

Fluffy, sticky white head on top of a clear golden beer. Some lacing left behind. Smells clean, soapy, with oranges and flowery. Tates light with citrus, grain, and citrus with a nice bitter finish. There is a malty, flowery aftertaste as well. Not what I am used to in an IPA but it is pretty tasty.

clear. shockingly clear. yellow, lots of white head, but man is this thing clear.

citrus is kind of refreshing in terms of being subtle. a bit soapy perhaps. doughy bread.

bitterness is there and lingers but not harsh at all. mouth is clean.

nothing amazing here, but a nice break from the citra- and mosaic-heavy offerings that seem to flood the shelves right now.

Pours clear, gold in color with 1/2 inch head. Taste is herbal and soapy hops with some grapefruit rnd. Bitter, light bodied with moderate carbonation. Beer does taste better as it warms. Icy Bay is a really easy drinking IPAs. There are several other beers from Alaska Brewing that I prefer, but this one is worth a shot.
