Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Alaskan IPA is honey gold in color with a fruity, citrus aroma. An enticing blend of hops and our dry hopping process, in which hops are added directly to tanks during fermentation, give this brew a very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing hop finish.

Pours a beautiful gold with lovely clarity and some lager type bubbles floating ever upward to a fat head of bone white foam that had excellent retention and left clinging lace. Nose is earthy and citrusy. A powdery and soft hop floral pervades the nose. There is a light and earthy pine and pink grapefruit. The malt to the nose is a but a drop of tempting honey, just a bit of sugary sweetness. Taste is mild and juicy. The pink grapefruit abounds in the flavor. Tart, citric and with some of the bright zest of the fruit peel. The mouthfeel is west coast style lightness and as it warms a just a hint of cracker peeks through. It's not very sweet but just sweet enough. The hops are floral perfection in this and exude their powdery musk throughout the drink. Their sweetness is unique in this aspect. The pine and a subtle herbal combine for a more delicate approach to the palate. The bitter is soft and graceful and ends this beer dry, with a slight pucker and with you wanting more.

Lovely.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking glazed orange color with a one finger white foamy head that died off in about a minute. Light lacing was here and there.
The smell had a really nice citrusy hoppiness inviting a nice light caramel maltiness to balance.
The taste was basically a balanced sweet citrusy hoppiness to light caramel malts.
The mouthfeel had a good sharpness running over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA that I would have again.

Nice golden colored body with a thick, chunky, white head; spidery lacing on the glass. Pine and earth aroma. Mild malt flavors; slight berry fruitiness; good hop bitterness lingering at the finish. Medium bodied; smooth and slick mouthfeel; dry finish.

A good if unexceptional IPA. Hits the style parameters with decent balance and respectable depth of flavor but there's nothing exceptional or memorable going on. Taste does have a nice juicy quality to it.

Clear light copper pour with a small head and light carbonation. Very faint hop smell upfront. Bold hop flavor with some grapefruit and resin initially. Body also has slight hints of pine, light citrus and a grainy malt back end. Finishes with a light bitterness.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About two fingers of white head that slowly fade into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a lot of lacing.

Smell: A juicy and earthy hop forward aroma with hints of citrus fruit and pine. Upfront citrus hops with hints of orange peel, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, and tangerine. Big scent of pine resin. Also some grassy hop hints. Soft pale malt background with hints of grains, cracker, and yeast. Very hop forward and ripe smelling. Pretty solid.

Taste: Like it smells, a ripe and juicy hop driven taste with good notes of citrus and pine. Citrus hops with some upfront notes of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, pineapple, and tangerine. Big taste of piney hops. Earthy notes of pine resin. Soft bready malt background presence with notes of grains, cracker, and yeast. Very hop dominate and pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, slightly oily, and pretty drying on the finish. Nicely smooth.

Overall: A pretty solid IPA. Good pine and citrus bite with a balanced smooth body.
