The beer pours out a light hazy golden color, with 1 finger of white head------------- the aromas are of papaya, lime, grapefruit, orange and pine-------------- the flavors are of bitter pine, biscuits, orange, grapefruit, lime, lesser peach syrup and grass/floral, the beer has a thin mouthfeel with a overly bitter finish---------------- overall this was better than expected based on my experiences with Alaskan brewing ipa's, the flavors were nice only flaws were the thin mouthfeel and overly bitter finish

Best by 10/29/16....A little past that.Pours into an imperial nonic a slight chill hazed lighter golden with a rocky thick white head atop.Juicy citrus and underlying pine resin in the nose with a slight breadiness detected as well.Citrusy with some grass and sharpness from the hops, the pilsner malt malts give the beer a nice bready almost doughy base that holds up well to the hops. The alcohol is pretty well hidden making for a pretty easy drinker for the size. For a beer with so much age on it it's really fresh and a pleasure to drink.

Alaskan Brewing Company's SMaSH Galaxy Double IPA is a single malt and single hop India Pale Ale. The malt used is Pacific Northwest Premium Pilsner malt and the hops are Galaxy. Galaxy hops are an australian hop noted for itsbittering abilities, tropical fruit flavors and its strong aromas. SMaSH Galaxy Double IPA has 8.5% alcohol by volume, 86 International Bittering Units and an SRM of 10. It pours hazy gold with a slight haze, rapidly rising bubbles and a 1/2" cream colored foam cap that has moderate retention. the aromas are melon, citrus, tropical fruit, light grass and light grains. The palate starts rich and creamy flavored by melon and tropical fruit, light citrus and crisp, light grainy malts that contribute some light white bread crust flavors. Ther is a faint initial hint of onion to celery that quickly fades. The hop flavors and biterness are medium high, strong and complex but not harsh. The malt flavors are medium. The fermentation character is fairly clean for a big IPA. SMaSH Galaxy Double IPA is medium bodied to slightly below with medium high carbonation. This is a very good, drinkable beer. The initial onion and celery flavors are a little disconcerting but dissapate quickly.

22oz bottle best by 110818. Served in a mug. Pale straw yellow with a bit of turbidity. Aroma is fruity and sweet, maybe peaches, or apricot. Flavor is tropical and hoppy but extremely well balanced and surprisingly non-bitter for a DIPA from Alaskan. That is to say, this is a lot better than I expect. BA says "intense bitterness typical of this variety" and the label says 86 IBU but I find it not at all intense.

I got this off the single shelf at Binnys. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of tropical citrus. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet citrus and malt. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer.

Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a standard pint glass. Appearance leaves nothing wanting. Clear, pale golden color, with an aggressive pour yielding a three-finger soapy white head that left a ton of sticky lacing as it receded to a thin cap. Such a beautiful pour means good things to follow, right? In this case it does. A good malt backbone provides body and structure without getting in the way of the hops. Aromas and flavors evoke tropical fruit and citrus that eventually give way to a floral finish with lots of intense bitterness. The alcohol presence is extremely well hidden. Overall, this is an outstanding, easy-drinking, and flavorful beer that would pair well with a variety of foods. Well done!
