Had on tap at cafe amsterdam.

Pours a cloudy brown with good white colored head. Leaves decent lace. Smell is immeadiately coffee cream with some dark malt. Taste follows coffee up front, coffee with cream not black coffee. Roasty toasty malt presence through the middle, and a slight (very) hop finish. Mouthfeel is pretty good but on the thin side. Drinkability is just like a session ale, the 6.7 abv is nowhere to be found. I would have guessed about 5 or 6 at the most. Defenitely a good beer, and one I think alaskan should put in the bottle or bomber. better than alot of their flagships. great beer.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a deep brownish amber with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of light tan head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A roasty and fairly sweet malt driven aroma with a scent of coffee beans, chocolate, and biscuit. Upfront scent of coffee beans with toasted malt hints of chocolate, biscuit, toast, caramel, grains, and nuts with some yeast. Sweet hints of vanilla, cream, and brown sugar. Subtle hints of earthy hops. A solid roasty aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty and somewhat sweet malt forward taste with notes of coffee beans, chocolate, and biscuit. Upfront taste of coffee beans. Malt notes of biscuit, chocolate, toast, grains, caramel, and nuts along with yeast. Some sweet notes of vanilla, brown sugar, and cream.. Light earthy hop bitterness towards the finish. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Smooth with a fairly drying finish.

Overall: A very good Coffee Brown ale. Good upfront coffee notes with the malty Brown ale notes.

Pours an effervescent caramel with a thumb of tan head. Below average head retntion & average lacing

S: Coffee, toastyness, & mocha

T: Folllows the nose, some woody hops as well, some vanilla slips in up front. Dryness, hazelnut & mocha, plus toastyness as this warms. Finishes toasty, sweet & a little dry

MF: Medium bod, slight carbonation

Drinks easy, a nice offering , nothing earth shattering though

This brew tasted like a rich sweet malty pale coffee. There are also small hints of roasted almonds. The beer finishes with a taste of bitter coffee soaked hops. The more and more I drink this beer the smoother it keeps going down. It's nothing that's out of the ordinary for beers in this market. It has a seasonal fall feel to it. Overall, it's pretty bland. I would recommend this to coffee beer fan. This one's worth a try at the very least.

served on draft at the salmon bake in Denali...

Pours dark with a creamy white head that hung around. Smell was absolutely exceptional. Like a tasty creamy double shot espresso w. vanilla cream - hints of malt...taste backs this up, with the hops coming through at the very end in a somewhat off balanced way.
Mouthfeel was...lacking for me. it had a bit of a thin, syrupy feel that didnt resonate- like perhaps it should have been served on nitro. Overall an excellent coffee beer.

Dark blonde color with lots of beautiful lace. As off-point as this is for a brown ale, I have to say it's really nice.

Lots of fresh coffee and nutty aromas on the nose. Light chocolate shavings and malts.

Flavor is off-putting to start, with some really odd bitter sourness, but the finish turns to pure nutty chocolate. Still that's hard to get to in each sip. As it warms the coffee becomes more noteworthy.

Very creamy feel with a nice tight carbonation. Coffee dryness on the finish.

Overall, I knew this was not my bag from the beginning - I don't like coffee too much and I don't like brown ales; but to STYLE, this one is gold. Very very nicely done. Recommended.

There are way to many listings for this beer. At least I found one with the same bottle pictured, so that is the entry I'll go with :)

A: Pours a dark ruby brown color. A two finger beige head forms with good retention and lace.
S: Lightly roasted malts, with pungent cold coffee. The coffee comes off a bit astringent and overly bitter. Not much else I can pick out.
T: Like the nose, lightly roasted malts. Astringent and bitter coffee that becomes a little acrid as well. A bit of sweetness, and the is it. Cold, not very appealing coffee is the show.
M/O: A medium to full body. Firm and crisp carbonation. Smooth at the same time. The coffee character is not to my liking, and since that is basically all there is here, not something I am likely coming back to. Though I do get a little acclimated to this after a while and if goes down quick.

A pretty one dimensional coffee brown ale. Not among my favorites of this kind. The coffee flavors aren't my favorite, and that is all that is brought to the table here.

Appearance - Pours light clear amber thin tan head not much lacing.

Aroma - Very nice coffee aroma, roasted malts some very sweet malt and biscuit as well.

Flavor - I really enjoyed the cold coffee flavors much more pronounced than the aroma, little bit of bitterness and nice roasted malt flavors.

Feel - Slightly thin feel for a brown ale I thought good carbonation and just a hint of dryness.

Overall - Decent brown ale I really liked the coffee flavors they wee well done.

Dark copper colored body; sticky head. Rich, malty aroma; notes of brown sugar and coffee grounds. The taste follows along with the aroma; toffee; sweet yet tempered with coffee flavors and subtle hop bitterness. Heavy body; rich and velvety; chewy.

This is a well-balanced, fine tasting brown ale that offers just the right amount of coffee presence to make things interesting.

Bottle from Albertsons. I’m not a huge fan of coffee beer, but try them anyway, for the tick. So I’ve been avoiding thus one, and it’s actually pretty good. Dull flat pour, dark brown, tiny ring of head. Light coffee aroma, taste also features the coffee, but adds some nuttiness and a light sweetness. A really solid brown ale with light coffee notes. Smooth with a lingering bittersweet finish.

Bought growler from growler bar at La Bodega in Anchorage. Poured into a pint glass.

A - Very bright copper color. Translucent. Moderate white head with a little bit of lacing.

S- Don't get much of the coffee or malt smell. Smells like a standard ale. Doesn't smell bad, but nothing spectacular or original.

T- Much more malty than the nose. Very sweet. Not as much coffee as I hoped, especially as the name suggested.

M- Sticky yet smooth. Well balanced in the ABV. Could knock a few back.

O- Just okay. I'll enjoy finishing it, but I'll probably never get another growler of it again.

Sample in the Alaskan tap room. This beer is a mostly clear brownish-amber color with a medium beige head that has decent retention. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and nuts. Medium, smooth body with roasted coffee, malt and caramel flavors with some hops in the background. The finish is mild coffee with a lingering roastiness. Pretty good overall.
