This Jalapeño Imperial IPA is fresh from the onset, with a quartet of bright hops playing off zesty jalapeño heat. A lustrous head retains the citrusy combination of Centennial, Sterling, Magnum and Apollo hops. Fresh jalapeños are used for a pleasant aroma, full-bodied flavor and genuine picante kick. A sweet bready malt backbone provides balance to the peppery fire.

Alaskan Jalapeño Imperial IPA is made from glacier-fed water, the finest quality Centennial, Sterling, Magnum, and Apollo hops, premium two-row and specialty malts, and a whole lot of fresh jalapeños.

Tasted on tap at Aces & Ales - Tenaya, in Las Vegas, NV.

Pretty, light copper beer is crystal clear. Moderate white head with lots of lacing. Restrained fruity hops with definite pepper notes as well. Interesting flavors are dominated by pepper and smoke, leaving hops in the background but some malt sweetness is in there. Thin, crisp body. Hops bitterness rises into light pepper heat. Alcohol is well hidden. This is a tasty, drinkable jalapeno beer, but the Imperial IPA base beer is a little lost in the background.

Got this 22 ounce bomber bottle dated 7/4/16 from Crockers in Niles Michigan for $8.99. Didn't have any pepper smell.....bummer. Taste was clean and delicious but very little jalapeño pepper taste either. Good IIPA but not for 9 bux per bottle.

The appearance has a light golden orange colored body with a half fingered white foamy head that dies at a moderate pace with some intricate almost spider web lacing graces the sides of the glass nicely. The smell is basically an AIPA with jalapeno combined and in my opinion, it combines very well as I get some bitter piney hops and yet the jalapeno comes out very well. The taste is basically the same - as the bitterness from the AIPA style invades the chile beer style and combines absolutely almost perfect. There’s a bitter piney yet slightly jalapeno aftertaste with a mild dry finish. On the palate, its about a light to medium, and comes across slightly sessionable. The carbonation seems like an AIPA and also like a Chile beer. Overall, in my opinion, this seems like an absolutely excellent hybrid between a Chile Beer and an AIPA.

Appearance: Pours clear and amber, the head settling in at one finger; shards of lacing appear

Smell: Caramel malt, some heat from the jalapeno; piney hops

Taste: A touch of caramel at the outset, with the layer of sweetness underpinning; through the middle, piney hop flavors build, with the heat from the jalapeno arriving, after the swallow; the heat dissipates in the finish, which is overly malty

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: I had some trepidations about this beer and was predisposed to dislike it; sad to say, my prejudices were confirmed

This is an immature tasting IPA with no hint of jalapeno that I can detect. It's a mess, one taste is watery, the next is boozy, but there is not even IPA backbone to speak of. It just wanders aimlessly bouncing off the walls so to speak

Pours a rather clear and attractive amber. Hardly any head. Aroma is sweet, slight malt and fruit. Not really citrus-like hops, more earth. No real pepper or vegetable in the smell.

Taste is a sweet balanced IPA flavor. Citrus, some onion, some bread. Not boozy in the taste but it's "hot" in the feel; I mean in a booze way. Later in the sip I begin to get green pepper and some slight edge of bitter. Pepper heat comes in ever so barely. Heavy-handed this is not.

Nothing overpowers, basically great mouthful, a pine and slightly astringent aftertaste and light carb. The heat builds slowly with each sip and as it warms the jalapenos start to win over. If they were stronger it would seem like a trick; but at this level it's more of an unexpected taste of canned green peppers.

Shrug. In a blind tastetest of a short pour I'm not sure I'd ID this as a chili beer. Okay DIPA.

1 PINT 6 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a tulip glass

This beer pours a deep amber in color, almost copper, with burnt orange highlights. It is topped with three inches of fluffy, creamy beige head that sticks around awhile and leaves some decent lacing.

I can smell fresh jalapeños. I also get a sweet malty aroma. The hops add a little citrus in the background.

It starts out sweet from the malt. Through the middle I taste fresh jalapeño. It finishes with mild citrus. The hops seem more complimentary than dominant.

Medium mouthfeel

This is a well done beer. No flavor overwhelms. The malt, the jalapeño, and the hops are all complimentary. I would have preferred more heat, but I am about to pours some Ghost Scorpion in the second half of the bottle. That should do it.
