Style: Fruit / Vegetable Beer

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
With nearly one pound of real fruit per gallon, Alaskan Raspberry Wheat has the inviting aroma of fresh-picked raspberries and an enticing red hue. The flavor of the raspberries lends a tartness that balances the full-bodied wheat profile and malt sweetness. Bigger than most traditional fruit beers, Alaskan Raspberry Wheat adds an extra kick to its dry and effervescent finish.

Pours out a dark red/maroon in color with a two finger, white head with good retention and some really nice lacing. Smell is nothing but straight raspberry -- really fragrant and enticing. I don't get anything else from the nose. Taste is a GREAT wheat beer much like what I would expect from a hefe with berries but not so heavy on the yeast. The bouquet in the mouth is a little wheat if you try but almost all raspberries. The mouthfeel is decently thick for the style. It's not real heavy but the carbonation is right on for the style. This is the wheat beer with fruit that I love to find and others strive to make. This is a very good beer.

AK Raspberry Wheat
Looks ruby red/ tart color.
Tart raspberry smell.
Tastes like raspberries and wheat, creamy so.
Tart puckering finish. Drinkable.
Enjoyed this oppty here in Ketchikan to drink this, as the local bartender told of how fast it will sell out even here in AK.

Pours a clear copper color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is decent to good. Lacing is good. Has a mainly raspberry aroma with hints of wheat. Strong raspberry taste with a wheat edge. A little bready. Like I would expect from this beer. Decent. Not bad. Not great. Light bodied with mild to moderate carbonation.
