Arguably the style that triggered the craft beer movement in the United States, the American Pale Ale showcases the floral, fruity, and citrusy aroma and flavors of Pacific Northwest hops in balance with a medium malt body.
Alaskan Freeride APA features a lush, green, almost tropical hop aroma paired with the unique taste combination of these three, distinctive hop varieties, making it both full in flavor and crisply thirst-quenching.
Alaskan Freeride APA is brewed with Cascade, Citra, and Centennial hops, premium two-row and specialty crystal malts, and Juneau’s glacier-fed water.
40 IBU

Poured into a snifter/tulip/wine glass from a 12 oz bottle
A - Nice translucent copper color with a one finger white head and little to no legs or lacing.
S - Lots of cracker like yeast up front, lots of malt/grain mostly sweet some a little toasty, slight dank, fresh cut grass, baking spice notes, fresh cut tree, potpourri, some sap and lots of green brown earth
T - Light but bright hops up front, lots of yeast, nice sweet to toasted malted/grain notes, taste like it smells the morning after you mow your lawn, nice pine, some pineapple, citrus rind and a nice sugary sweetness
M - Medium minus carbonation, medium minus acidity, nice balance, decent complexity and a sweet hop to sweet malt finish
D/O - Very refreshing, goes down like water and enough flavor to enjoy every sip. Not a lot to say about this one other than it is a great apa with no flavors lacking and nothing over the top. Well done.
Final thoughts - Price I am not sure of as I picked this up in an IPA sampler pack that was $11 for a twelve pack. The ABV is pretty low at 5.3%. Worth a try for sure.

Purchased in an Alaskan Mixed Pack.
Look: Clear orange with medium head. Generous lacing.
Smell: Hops and grass.
Taste: Ok. Hoppy with a malt finish.
Feel: Medium-high in mouth.
Overall: This is a good beer but the flavor is lacking. I would have preferred a lot more bitterness. I would consider purchasing this beer again if my options were limited.

Pours golden clear with white faint fading head on draught at The Hanger in Juneau Alaska after whale watching tour on vacation on cruise stop. Decent local pale ale at 5.3% ABV. Pairs well with amazing local wild salmon. Cheers to Alaska!

This is a rather boring apa. Not a whole lot of flavor - there is some honey and some citrus. Body feels a bit weak and flavor profile is meh. Forgettable - skip it if you have the chance.

Pours a clear honey amber with a large white cap that leaves very nice lacing as it fades. Aroma is faint corn and malt, very little hop. Flavor follows the nose although a bit more forward. Feel is light bodied and well carbonated. Overall an okay beer but not worth seeking out.

Poor experience with this beer. It was close to a year past best by date, so maybe that’s it. Hopefully can try a fresh one sometime

On draft at Alaskan Fish & Chips in Juneau. Pint glass. Slightly cloudy copper body. Caramel, light toffee, toasted grain, light grapefruit and citrus. Fairly standard APA profile, good carbonation, not difficult to drink. Medium lighter body. It's a solid flagship pale ale.
