Share from a friend that went to Chicago for Christmas. It's about 2 weeks past the best by date but still very flavorful. We'll be up in WI in May and I'll try to score some fresh ones. Very solid DIPA, I think fresh it may be a bit closer in taste to Hopslam.

Appearance: dark orange in color with a fluffy head.

Smell: citrus and some pine and floral notes.

Taste: caramel, grapefruit, orange, pine, and some floral notes. Bitterness is moderate and alcohol is mildly noticeable.

Mouthfeel: medium-heavy in body. Lightly crisp throughout with some dryness arriving late.

Overall: a very tasty DIPA that is comforting and enjoyable for the tastebuds.

Taste: very complex variety of many hops that give floral, piney, citrus bitter notes. Same with the nose. Amber/Copper hue, clear, reg head with nice lattice of lace. Medium/full body. Dry finish with slight hop lingering on tongue. 70 IBU's

SUCH a nice beer. Pleasant and smooth with a rather deep, fruity singularness. If, perhaps a bit thick on the uptake, it has a lovely nose and an outstanding finish- not bitter. The taste lingers like a good conversation. This beer leaves you knowing you're NOT on someones learning curve. It's becoming a favorite.

On tap at Rocket Dog Brats & Brew

A: Pours copper amber with a frothy light tan head that settles to a light layer and laces quite nicely.

S: Piney, earthy, herbal, bitter citrus, orchard fruit, toasty almost roasty malt, and caramel toffee sweetness.

T: Big hit of spicy green resinous earthy herbal pine, some citrus, grapefruit and orange, floral, some fruity notes buried in there, dare I say almost cherry like, a touch of peach and apricot, backed with a pretty healthy amount of toasted malt, a touch roasty as well, and some toffee sweetness.

M: A bit towards the fuller end of medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Feels like taking a big bite out of a pine tree at the start. Definitely more old school approach to a DIPA with a fairly substantial malt presence. Not my usual style of brew but actually quite nice on a chilly night. Probably even better at the properly cold source.

February 11th, 2015 - I'd like to begin my review of Hop Thermia by suggesting this is the smell of Iceland in a bottle. Mild mannered and amber in appearance, a quick sampling with the nose opens to a sudden and brilliantly lit field, dense with grass and flowing free with a breeze. Then I imagine (inexplicably) imagine fjords, which might stem from the general freshness of the scent. The flavor is also deeply herbaceous and hoppy. Herbal and spicy flavors of parsley and thyme permeate the taste, overlaid on a rich layer of caramel and toasty tastiness. Served warmer it's even better, where the hop profile darkness a bit, and the heavier body feels more appropriate. Another winner from my favorite brewery in the far north.

Overall, pretty decent beer. I prefer a little more hop taste and bitterness in a DIPA. I'd buy again.

12oz bottle, Best by 12 14 17
Frothy beige head caps a deep copper colored DIPA. Piney citric aroma with sweet caramel malt. Rich and sweet yet pungent and bitter with notes of caramel malt, toasted grain, bread crust, grapefruit, mango, orange, and pine. Medium-full body, modest carbonation, finishes both bitter and sweet. Overall, really solid DIPA. I'd drink it again.

L - Copper-colored pour, with a thick off-white head that leaves some spotty lacing.

S/T - Well balanced, with notes of light caramel malts providing a nice backbone for the citrusy hop character.

F - Substantial mouthfeel, with a dry finish and lingering citrus-zest bitterness.

O - Excellent beer, drinkable, delicious.

Inviting gold/deep orange color; hoppy with orange and spice on the nose; mild hops and smooth balance on the palate, complex taste that is more earthy than fruity or hoppy, tiny bit of bite on the finish; warmer this beer got, the better I liked it. Solid beer!
