12 ounce bottle poured to wine glass
dark amber, very hazy, medium tan foam that slowly goes away
not a lot of aroma for an imperial IPA
bitter, some sweetness
creamy, good carbonation, long bitter follow through
very good beer, ok to repeat but not look for

Pours a dark orangey amber with a very stingy foam in the Het Kapittel chalice. Before you can sip the aroma is dank and fruity. The first sip is spruce buds followed by a long resiny bite. Sharp and spritzy on the tongue. More acidic than most big IPAs, at least it seems more old-school as IPAs have drifted into a new tropical mellowness.

Quite surprisingly dry. A mouthful of cider with lime peel and a bitter aftertaste. More of a twiggy and mineral finish. Hard core. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Haggen Market in Bellingham, Wash.

One of the first beers to bring the super orange appearance into the double ipa category. I really like it, looks hearty, dangerous yet inviting, 1/2" off white head. Aroma has lots of C hops, maybe Simcoe.

Taste, is a super hoppy affair. There's not much else to speak of, it crushes old school hops into a crystal malt presentation. Its not excessively bitter, but its no slouch either. It leans forward with grapefruit like bitterness throughout. Its not a dry finish, there's lots of malt in here and not in that vibe, like a viscous amber and dipa blend. I don't like the bomber format, too expensive.

Look - Clear without being bright. Good head although diminished quickly....understandable due to alcohol content.
Smell - Completely lacks any American Hop aroma which is weird. Completely dominated my alcohol / malt on the nose. Aroma actually a bit unpleasant.
Taste - Hugely malty, with some hot alcohol and a lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue. Really not doing it for me.
Feel - see hot alcohol / lingering bitterness.
Overall - I don't think this is a good representation of the stile
Purchased from Purvis Cellars - 25/05/16
Best Before - April 2016..........there you go. An out of date bottle. Worth trying another fresher bottle at some stage.

Pours a cloudy orange with a big two-finger head, lots of bubbles and and quite dense. Smell is fruity and quite sweet, not to mention very floral. It's definitely unique, although I don't know that I find it very appetizing. Taste is strange. Not bad per se, just different. Sweet, but strangely heavy on the swampiness. It also ends very bitter and it is a lingering bitterness, not the good kind that can wrap up a sweet taste like a cymbal crash. Other comments seem to hint that this weird mildewy sock taste is a trademark of BridgePort brews. I suppose you have to be known for something, but I am definitely not going to go out of my way to try more of this swamp juice.
