A: Pours a dark amber color, clear with a modest head but has some decent lacing.

S: Aroma of malt, caramel, spices and bit of fruit.

T: Taste is malty with caramel sweetness, spices and bit of fruit in the background.

F: Mild bitterness and a slightly sticky finish. Fairly light body, smooth but doesn’t have that bit of pop I like in a seasonal Harvest Ale.

O: Nice beer but I expecting a bit more.

I made the mistake of buying a 6 pack of this wretched witch's brew instead of a single bottle. I don't know what led me to believe this would be good enough to drink six of them. This is almost a pumpkin beer, but is too lazy and thin to be a good pumpkin beer, so it is just a "spiced harvest ale".

This beer pours a clear, amber color with minimal head lacing.

The smell is a mixture of tecate and bad spice pairings.

The taste is similar to the smell, and the mouthfeel is very thin and is finished with an unsavory bitter aftertaste.

Overall, this is a watery offering of a foul mixture of spice and misfortune, perfect for the halloween season as a trick, but definately not as a treat.

Poured half a finger of head on a clear, copper colored body.
The aroma is lemon with some light Autumn spice. Not bad.
The taste is initially okay; nutty and malty. Then it quickly turns to the "harvest spice" which sent the rest of the structure head over heels down the hill into the lake.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
Not enjoyable. Disjointed and lost.

Pours ornge with 2+ fingers of tan head. Great lacng & head retention

S: Cinnamon & all-spice, some apple skin

T: Follows the nose, some herbal bitterness as well. Some pear notes as this warms more spices, some golden delicious apple. Finishes with some orchard fruit, some cinnnamon & herbal hop bitterness, mostly an apple pie taste

MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation

This really didn't impress me, not the worst I've ever had, but I will never buy this again

Appearance: (3.0)

- Dark molasses brown, very clear, and very low carbonation. A quick fizzling head of off-white leaves but a trace over the brew, and a tiny ring in the glass. Fitting though for the style.. to a point.

Smell: (4.0)

- Nice sweet caramel and molasses notes with a nice earthy and grassy hop character. The cinnamon and nutmeg shine through just perfectly. Seems like a drinker to me.

Taste: (3.5)

- Nice caramel and light toffee flavors and certainly a grassy and earthy hop flare with a nice zesty little bite. The cinnamon and nutmeg play very well with the rest of the ingredients, creating a very nicely balanced, and tasty brew. Certainly worth the try.

Mouth Feel: (3.5)

- Medium to light bodied, bubbly carbonation, and a little chewy and drying.. a touch cloying really. Not bad, and the hops certainly do dry this number up a little.

Overall: (3.5)

- This is a solid above average Fall seasonal. It doesn't really bang in any particular category, it just is what it is... a solid tasty drinkable seasonal brew.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint.
5.8% ABV, no date.

A - Like a crisp autumn afternoon, the beer pours a clear burnt sienna color with a towering plume of light beige foam. Gnarled branches of lace wrap around the glass creating a picturesque scene to behold.

S - Witch Hunt, contrary to, say, witch capture, does not smell like smoke or burning flesh. Instead, this Halloween-themed beer suggests a familiar aroma from this time of year; pumpkin brew! With it's spiced aroma of nutmeg and cinnamon this brown ale is smooth and simply malted with sweet Munich and caramel with crisp Vienna toast finish. No hops can be found here but the beer does end on an oddly sterile note.

T - The cauldron of flavor melds together nicely as the sweet malt features layers of caramel, bread, toast, and tootsie rolls counteracted by nutmeg and cinnamon spice. Earthy hops which steer clear of the nose insert faint wood and dried leaf characteristics on the finish.

M - From start to finish Witch Hunt is smooth like a broom ride without turbulence. Sweet malt lingers on the tongue but not without some balance. While void of bitterness a dry, spiced finish cuts the sweetness down a notch.

O - I wonder if the brewers cast a spell on this beer as they boiled the wort; a spell of deliciousness! Suggestions of the season's pumpkin-brewed beers enter the mind, but the beer doesn't feel incomplete. Instead, the spice nicely plays off the sweet malt for a drinkable harvest ale that stands out from the crowd without being green. Or burned at the stake.
