Our Master Brewers describe Kentucky Ale as a marriage between two classic beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. Light amber in color, Kentucky Ale owes its unique body and character to select imported malts and a pinch of wheat malt for a rich, smooth taste. The unique body and character of Kentucky Ale is heavily influenced by the water, drawn from aquifers in the limestone rock underlying the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky.

A- Light amber with a very slight haze. Half finger head is supported by obvious carbonation.

S- Very malt forward, sweet, nutty and biscuity. Little to no hop aroma noticed.

T- Caramelly malt with mild toasty, nutty notes. More biscuit character joins the middle before trailing off into the finish.

M- Fairly smooth even though the carbonation is a bit high.

O- Nothing really great, however it still manages to be a pleasantly drinkable beer. Not a bad choice for intoducing someone to craft beer either.

Oh. Um, well had at Brown Hotel in Louisville. It was free, so that was good. Apparently a marriage of 2 styles. I read many that said on a hot day this is nice. It is cold today so that’s not good. I’m done rating this beer as it is not very good unfortunately to me, but I’m sure in a better setting this would be better

Gold to faint copper in color with a fingernail of beige around the rim and covering two thirds of the top. There's a very appealing aroma of caramel and lightly bready malt. I'm tasting caramel, lightly bready malt, and just a hint of marzipan. The mouth is faintly sticky and very well rounded.

Pours an amber/copper into a fifteen ounce glass mug the same temperature as the beer. Two finger off white head that collapses quickly to a thin rime. Lots of fizzy bubbles. Very little in the way of lacing.

Nose is pretty simple. Sweet caramel malts with no hops discernible. Touch of sulphur. Could be over its date.

Taste is sort of sweet caramel malts with no hops discernible. Very plain Jane brew.

Quite thin and watery on the palate with a sweetish finish. No hops at all.

A very ordinary brew. Didn't expect much. Got even less.

Mid pack at best.
A) Tired bottle graphics. Pours a clear, bronze amber body with a thin, foamy head with much last or lace.

S) Some floral honey over pale, sweet caramel malts, almost a coke. (not good)

T) Develops the pale malts up front with sweet, malty, caramel notes - makes me instantly go for pretzels to balance this with salt. No much hop. End of-pack red ale.
F) Mid weight, uneventful, fine with pretzels or a good food beer for american fare. Burgers.
O) Remarkably simple and cola like, too sweet and mid-american, mid pack for me.

Pours a light orangish red with a frothy white head the fades in 1 or 2 minutes. The smell is malty with some subtle hop aroma. Up front a malty beer with some hops coming through, followed by a strong malt finish and a hop aftertaste with no bitterness. This on has a nice balance between the styles it is comprised of, and tastes doughy as you continue to sip. The mouthfeel is harsh up front and smooths out as you sip, not a big fan of how this one feels. It is more of a medium mouthfeel, which is nice. Overall a decent beer, nothing that is extraordinary, but easy to drink and refreshing.

A nice mixture of pale ale and irish red ale. I think it mostly leans toward a irish red ale with more hops present. This is my favorite kentucky ale brand beer I've had so far.

It is going to take some time (clearly), but inroads are being made as far as eradicating the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody are concerned. I am now setting my sights on the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

From the bottle: "A marriage of traditional English Pale Ale and Irish Red Ale styles".

Happy Election Day 2016! With so many horse's a**es running for various offices both state & nationwide, I Pop!ped open a horse of a totally different color. Speaking of color, in this case, it was a lightly-hazy Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with deep amber highlights. I gave it a gentle pour, followed by a vigorous in-glass swirl to raise a brief finger of foamy, tawny head. Nose smelled strongly of caramel malt and given the brewer's ambitious mash-up of styles, it seemed okay to me. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was sweet, but the caramel was not as pronounced as it had been on the nose. Instead, it was offset by a red raspberry flavor that actually worked well with the caramel. Finish was semi-sweet, kind of a fruit-caramel blend, but not so pronounced as to be cloying. The problem with reviewing to style when you have a hybrid is that it is tough to be objective. It was tasty, but it really was not truly an EPA.

This beer is great on a hot day and/or after working outside. Described as a marriage between an English pale ale and an Irish red, the flavor is mostly that of pale malts with some hints of maltiness lent by the Irish red. Quite refreshing, but where this beer really stands out is its lively mouthfeel.
