-clear cola brown pour with a coffee nose. The flavor is of toasted malt, pronounced coffee and some whiskey notes. This tasty, but the body and mouthfeel are very thin.

For years I've wanted to try this beer. Finally it was available in my area, so I snapped it up and anxiously waited for the opportunity to try it.

What an incredible disappointment. I just don't understand the hype behind this beer.

The smell was good. Coffee, roasted malt and chocolate.
Taste: Coffee, and more coffee. Where's the bourbon, where is the oak?
Mouth feel: Watery thin.
Overall: Meh.

Not going to buy this again.

$ 15.00 (Including tax)/four pack ($ 0.312/oz) at Franklin Beer, Frankin, PA
Bottle marked 61129W2120149 at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter; allowed to warm to 50 degrees
Aroma – coffee and roasted malt and more coffee
Head large (Maximum 5.2 cm, aggressive pour), tan, creamy with rocks, average retention, diminishing to a three mm ring and a thin layer with central rocky island
Lacing - none
Body – dark brown/black, opaque
Flavor – begins slightly sweet with caramel and coffee notes. Ends slightly bitter. Not picking up any bourbon or oak flavors. No hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate – medium, almost creamy, soft carbonation

To me, definitely more of a porter than a stout. Drinkable but heavier on the coffee side than the beer side. Four and done.

Appearance 3.5, Aroma 3.75, Flavor 3.5, Palate 4.25, Overall 3.5. Rating 3.64, rDev +2.2%.

I bought a bottle of this off the single shelf at Binnys. It poured an opaque black with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of bourbon and vanilla. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. There was espresso with touch of bourbon. The Mouthfeel is lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's a decent stout.

I don't get it. I paid $14.99 for a four pack and this is really not good. Not sure what the buzz is about.

Smells decent. But VERY thin, hard to call it a stout. Kind of sweet finish and then...that's it. A big disappointment.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle, into a Funky Buddha snifter.

Light khaki colored head with moderate retention.Black in color, with no light coming through the glass.

On the nose I get mostly dark roasted malts, and coffee, with slight chocolate notes.Absolutely NO bourbon whatsoever...Not necessarily a bad thing...We'll see on the palate.

On the palate get only dark roasted malts, and coffee.AGAIN absolutely no bourbon whatsoever...Again I don't think that's a bad thing, but I guess I have to deduct points, considering it is advertised as "bourbon barrel aged".

The body is medium / heavy, with a pretty smooth finish.

I personally think this is a pretty good stout,I'm not a huge fan of beers with too much bourbon flavor. But I guess since it is advertised as bourbon barrel aged, and it has none of those characteristics I will have to deduct points off the overall score...Damn shame because this is a pretty damn good stout.
