A clear light golden beer, with a white head that dissolves quicly, leaving no lacing.

A rather weak smell, sweet bread, some lemon and boiled sausages.

Upfront a sweet taste, syrup pancakes, then sour notes, citric acid, and a finishing neutral bitterness that lasts for a while.

Rather high carbonation, a bit fizzy, a somewhat coarse finish.

Nothing really stands out to me, a run-of-the-mill lager.

The colour is medium-pale yellow; the small foam is thick, white and quickly dissolving.

The smell is more solid than I expected. A lot of hops, some sourish notes, a touch of burned sugar and newly baked bread.

The carbon oxide is mild and pleasant with small bubbles.

The taste is generously fresh with some sourish notes. There are also notes of bread, apples and some diacetyl. The aftertaste is full of character - balanced with a fresh blend of malts and a quite mild bitterness.

I was really surprised of the quality of this beer. I remember the first beer I drank from this small local brewery, it must have been somewhere round 1996, and this early batch was really skunky – it tasted just like drinking … liquid leather. Since that episode, I have avoided their beers. But that will probably change from now.

The name, “Runölet Wynja” means “The Rune Beer P” as wynja was the Norse name for the Latin letter P. In ancient times, the runes were associated with different qualities, and wynja was associated with happiness, peace and joy.
