Dark amber with a hint of orange, lots of soda like carbonation, and 3 fingers of light beige head.

Smells really fruity, and like red liquorice candy. Hints of apple sauce, and grape juice.

Tastes very fruity, I get the apple sauce and grape juice in there again.

Medium body, with a moderate amount of foamy carbonation. Full and bread like feel for the low ABV.

Got this in Southern Ontario, drinking it in Muskoka, Dec 18th, 2017. Really good and full feeling brew for what may be considered a session ale.

Pours hazy dark end of red with a patchy, frothy head. Chunks of lace drape the glass on the way down. The aroma is of just kilned crystal malts and strong sweetness. The taste is sweet with a tropical, berry character. A bit of roastyness and even less herbal hops round things out. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a cloying character. The finish is sweet with a sour milk acidity in the back.

An OK American Red Ale. Could have a cleaner malt profile and more hops for balance. I won't seek it out again.

Not a great beer by any exaggeration. Look was middle of the road, the smell was quite malt forward and a little sweeter than expected. The taste follows the smell very closely. Feel was a little thin almost watery, though carbonation was about right.

So as I said, not great. Two duds in a row for me from Lost Craft. I guess I will be passing on them in the future.

Can - pours a clear amber color 1 finger cap lasts - very faint nose to this, hard to detect anything...some light sweetness and not much else. Flavor is relatively weak but there are a number of tastes here that show they at least tried --- some rye spice, some (northern brewer?) hops come caramel and light buttery tone (diacetyl?) but the mouth and character are so watery all you can say is its wet and has a long slushy finish - totally forgettable.

Lost Craft, Crimzen Premium Red Ale. 473 ml can, 4.7% alc.

Poured into a glass. Tan head. Amber colour. Lots of carbonation. Haziness.

Notes of cereal grains, malts. All very faint.

Taste is cereal grains, malts - all subtle. Very, very slight hop bitterness on the finish. And I mean slight. Medium bodied.

Dry finish.

Very drinkable beer. Good quality taste. However, I've had more favourable red ales. Still, I'd recommend trying it. And I'd certainly consider buying it again.

Love the simple design on the can.

Brewed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Fluffy tan head, light and full, with a bright and clear copper body.
Aroma is light of peach and apricot, caramel.
First thing that jumps out is the luxurious mouthfeel - creamy and silky. Flavour is toffee and caramel, cereal, with a very dry finish and a whisper of hops. Simple, but a delight to drink and well balanced.
Good for the style, but a touch too sweet for my taste.

Purchased as a 473 ml can from the LCBO, served well chilled in a pint glass.

This is my second red ale in as many days. I enjoyed the previous one quite a bit so decided to see how this stacked up.

Coppery colour in the glass with a somewhat beige head – only a centimeter or so that very quickly dissipated and essentially disappeared after a couple minutes.

The nose is largely cereal notes with hints of caramel.

Mouthfeel is lively with good carbonation, and a smooth undertone.

Tastes of malt, cereal flavours, and very mild bitterness. Not a lot of hopiness here, but the bitterness lingers somewhat unpleasantly at the back of the pallet and tongue. Overall not a bad beer, but does not stack up to other red ales I’ve had recently.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Purchased from the LCBO for around $3 CDN.

Appearance - Pours a clear pale amber / red colored beer with a tremendous frothy white head. Even a gentle pour yielded multiple fingers of rocky white head. Good retention and minimal lacing.

Smell - Clean with a grainy aroma, slight hop presence and some earthiness. A slight vegetative characteristic to the aroma as well.

Taste - Inoffensive with middling bitterness, a healthy dose of English hop subtlety and some caramel flavors. Not super exciting but well put together. Seems very balanced to me.

Mouthfeel - Smooth body, fairly light, easy drinking with a drying finish.

Overall - A solid red ale that I can see myself enjoying again and again. There's something in the simplicity of this beer that I find rather attractive.

473 mL can from the LCBO; no canning date. Served well-chilled. Described as an English-style red ale on the back label, which probably puts this closer to an English pale than an American amber.

Pours a clear reddish-amber hue, crowned with one finger of soapy, off white-coloured head. This layer of foam gradually reduces in volume over the next five minutes or so, leaving behind a creamy cap and collar about a half-cm thick. Modest amount of lacing; looks like it's supposed to. Pretty bland aroma, though it's also quite clean; grainy pale malts with light caramelized malt sweetness, and a few hints of tea-leafy hops and doughy bread.

Taste is ok. Clean, unobjectionable flavour, but make no mistake: this is a very low-key red session ale, certainly not an attention-grabber. Grainy pale malts, lightly toasted bread and restrained caramel sweetness comprise much of the profile. Notes of red apple skin by mid-sip are easy to miss, with some leafy, grassy hop flavours rounding everything out at the finish. Light-medium body, with moderately low carbonation levels that gently agitate the tongue, and an overall texture that is a bit soft and quite smooth. Kind of dull, but I'll toss out a few bonus points for being extremely drinkable.

Final Grade: 3.56, a passable B grade. Lost Craft's Crimzen red ale isn't an exciting beer, but it's a decently-made one with no crippling flaws. If you keep in mind that this is supposed to be an English-style beer - i.e. it's not meant to showcase assertive, varied hop flavours, as would be the case for many American-style ambers - then you should be able to enjoy this one if you don't put too much thought into it. Very much one of those gateway craft beers - fans of stuff like Rickard's Red and Sparkhouse will likely appreciate this one, but BAs looking for something novel (or just something hop-forward) risk being underwhelmed by the experience.
