This is a loving tribute to not only the Hudepohl brewery, but to the reinheitsgebot roots of the thirsty immigrants who made it famous.
A copper colored pour with a malt presence usually found in a well made Vienna style amber. A bright flavorful palate, with an expert use of hops to counter balance any excessive sweetness. Deliciously drinkable with a remarkably clean finish.
For those who believe this some marketing bridge between larger brewing concerns and smaller ones, all I can say is, this beer's quality and character speaks for itself.

On tap at the local BW-3. I thought it was pretty tasty and got a sixer for the weekend pitfire. They didn't last long.

Appearance - pours a light but clear, honeyed amber color. Pretty peppy head of two fingers, but it fades to a thin cover pretty quickly. Holds well, though, thanks to some active beading underneath.

Aroma - grainy, macroish. A touch of sweetness and roast, but just a bare touch.

Taste - hey, pretty nice malt presence, did not see that coming based on the sniff. Slight sweetness initially, some mild carbonic saltiness following. A light diacetyl flavor. This beer reminds me a lot of Kentucky Ale, maybe a tad lighter in flavor.

Mouthfeel - for the fluffy carbonation level, this has some notable smoothness to it.

Drinkability - a pretty decent session beer to bridge the macro folk to the micro folk. A natural pick for this year's Halloween beer tasting.
