For far too long the tyrannical industrialized beer overlords have disgraced and cheapened the noble heritage of the pilsner with their relentless multi-generational downward drive to commercialized homogenization. Over decades, this once vaulted style has been slowly and methodically gutted, bringing forth a soulless and anemic result, all the while spending billions in advertising to convince the unwitting public that their fizzy yellow end result was beer. Well, I will not have it. We are striking back for true craft by stealing the pilsner back from their evil clutches, and restoring it to its almighty glory. They do it cheaply. We do it right. Choose vapidity, or choose righteousness...but whatever you do, choose wisely.

It's the end of the month, the end of the week & the beginning of the evening and as such, I am delving into what has been lingering in my backlog. I am really hoping to eradicate the bulk of the bulk in due time, but for now, it is one beer at a time. In the meantime, I have yet CANother pint-sized CAN for the furtherance of The CANQuest (tm)!

From the CAN: "It's Time a Pilsner Got Arrogant"; "Drink Fresh Numbskull".

All very endearing, but I have to agree with @McStagger that it should have an umlaut over its "U".

I was a little surprised during the Crack!ing open of the vent when it beCAN with a spritz, followed by some CANtinued foaming. Hmm. Was it because I had not drank it fresh? Such is usually NOT the case since I keep my house fairly cool & dark year-'round, but perhaps … Nope, it was a brimful craft CAN that finally revealed itself as the culprit. This being the case, I started a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into my favorite Pilsner glass, a recent procurement from my neighborhood church's monthly Attic Treasures rummage sale. I get a LOT of great glassware there & this one is especially tall & handy. I slowed my Glug as it beCAN to heavily foam upwards, finally forcing me to stop. It formed two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with excellent retention. Color was Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was very malty, quite biscuity with a pronounced Noble hop presence. Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, about on par for the style. The taste had a pronounced grassiness, perhaps a little heavy for the style, nearly balanced out by the biscuity malts. Usually, beers in this style remind me of Summers spent on my maternal grandparents' spread which abutted a working farm. This one was just a tad too intense in terms of its flavors, IMHO. Finish was pleasant & dry. I would have liked to have drank it during the Summer to see if it fared any better, YMMV.

LOOKS: A hazy golden/amber with an inch of soapy, white, foam that lingers.
AROMA: hoppy mango, a little citrus, and grain.
TASTE: Like an IPL. White bread, and heavy mango like hops.
FEEL: Fairly dry, medium body, average carbonation.
OVERALL: Seems like a well made brew, but, I'd never guess it was a Pilsner.

500ml pull-tab can nabbed at a Total Wine in Austin, TX.

"Pilsner." 5.8% ABV.

Oddly nontraditional hop profile. Far off style.

Random grab. Haven't had an arrogant beer in some time but didn't really feel like going overboard with a plethora of palate assaulting brews tonight as they are well known for.

Look - Crisp sunset golden with a two finger egg white head that sticks around for a good portion of the pint. Low to medium carbonation. Decent stick at the end of things.

Smell - Noticed a review stated below that this has a very west coast twang to it. I have to disagree in the respect that I'm getting a ton of noble hops and cut grass on the nose with an apparent mustard seed as though it were a Belgian.

Taste - Hop is all there with a mild to moderate fruit aspect. The grass is obviously apparently and there does appear to be a slight thought ever present Belgian tinge going on with this one.

Feel - Moderate bodied with a high level of popping carbonation. Swallows fruity and a touch bitter.

Overall - This is a solid pilsener with a nice fruit aspect. Definitely doesn't seem all that west coast in my opinion but hey that's just me and I'm kinda glad because over hopping may have killed the brew in terms of the style.
