Been going here for a looong time. My first micro/crafts purchased here many moons ago. They have recently though tried stepping up their game a bit by carrying bombers in the back fridge and hanging signs stating "craft beers" and such. I'd say for the area they were probably the only store to ever carry micro's back in the day.
It's your normal sprawling supermarket connected liquor store. Prices have always been good, and can get some good sales on booze once and again.
Back fridge is and has been loaded with six packs from pretty much run of the mill micro/crafts. Brooklyn, Long Trail, OtterCreek, etc. The had about a dozen or so bombers sitting in the fridge as well. Firestone Walker, Stone, Brooklyn, etc. So they are trying. I would assume if this caught on and started to work, they would start carrying alot more.
Anyways, far right aisle is loaded with warm pack and cases. Decent amount of imports as well.
Not a bad place if your breezing through and need some beers.

There isn't much special to find here.. You may find some dogfish or such, the better known craft brewers, but not much. It's got a very nice wine selection.. But it's nothing special. With it's close proximity to Wine & Beverage Depot in Totowa (less than a mile?), there's really no reason to ever go here.. If you're looking for the normal bud/miller/etc then sure, you'll be set.. Buy more than often there is nothing you will find here that isn't guaranteed to be at most places on the area.. The ONLY good thing I can think to say is they had a bunch of DFH Midas Touch once.. That's it.

Stopped in to visit when I was in my old stomping grounds. Place hanged a bit from the last time I was there, which I will admist was years ago, and they seem to be enjoying the craft beer scene. Staff really did not know anything, but thats ok as I did. Lots of selection here, all of your typical Northeast micros and at very reasonable prices. Dogfish head and victory, etc. Overall a niceplace to stop in and grab some brews, I am glad it has changed since I was last there, it is much for the better now.

Located right near Rte 46 on Browerton, the Shoprite Liquor store is attached to the grocery store but with a separate entrance. Being a grocery store, parking should not be a real problem.

The first thing I noticed when entering were several signs that proclaimed you could not purchase alcohol at Shoprite with an out-of-state driver's license. With that in mind, unless you are CLEARLY over 21, you may be in for some problems buying anything here. I think that is a stupid policy so the "Service" score is being dinged accordingly. Unfortunately I saw the same sign at all of the Shoprite Liquor stores I visited.

The good news is you can actually find some good beers here. Some notables were Brooklyn, Saranac, Magic Hat, Victory etc. Unfortunately none of the local/regional stuff was available in singles. Aside from the usual macro bombers/Asahi etc., Sam Smith's were about the only worthwhile singles.

The staff is about the level of knowledge you would expect working for a grocery store chain.

Overall, I am sure there are beer stores with better selection but this is definitely worth a stop if you are in the immediate area.

Another Shop-Rite Liquors outlet (although owned by different people than the others I've reviewed). Conveniently located just off the Browertown Road exit off Route 46 (although the intersection is a pain).

Quality: One rarely finds out of date beers here, and the selection is well rotated. This is one of the older Shop-Rite stores, and as such is a bit grungy.

Service: Typically staffed by young clerks, service is at a bit of a premium here, but isn't much different than most stores.

Selection: Offers a bit more in the way of singles than the other Shop-Rites, but most singles are still the larger bottles. The beer section is pretty much one aisle running the length of the store, with singles and premiums along one side, and cases etc. on the other. There's also about 4 doors-worth of cooler space for beer.

Backwash: Not amazing, but serviceable and convenient.

A great representation of micros. They do pretty good on imports also. I was very impressed with their German Weiss selection which covers many I have not had before. They are however hurting on belgians and have almost nothing in bottle-conditioned 750s. For such a huge place, they could have a lot more.

Service is polite and helpful in finding you anything. They aren't as talkative and exited about beer as I like to find in a store, but it doesn't bother me because they have enough stuff to keep me interested just looking.
